Is spell specialization a big deal, especially with the AA that lets you specialize in the rest? I am MNK/SK/SHM. At 20 (if that is the correct level), should I be casting alteration spells to specialize in Shammy heals? Or again, is it not really that big of a deal?

No, was just pointing out that no one is actually selling them directly like you wanted people to assume.

If theres a whole two sellers on ectunnel offering this service amongst all servers and then they require your account info to do it; I'm going to wager the mastermind mote market isnt very lucrative.

I'm a bit surprised how much I'm enjoying this version of EQ. I played a brief amount of THJ (maybe 10 hours), but didn't give it a lot of time purely because I thought it would be immediately shutdown.

I'm playing with some friends who haven't played EQ much and they're practically addicted. It's been a lot of fun. Pal/Enc/Mnk is absolutely ridiculous. I enjoyed War/Dru-or-Shm/Mnk, but the other trio is just incredibly strong.

They'll have to pump out content and changes to keep players around, but so far I can't imagine this isn't a huge success for them. They need to send a gift to the THJ guys for showing the way.

I don't mind POF. They took out all the annoying dispels. Asslings suck since they port you all over the place, but I'll live with it.

Hit 22 today with my RNG/PAL/WIZ and am enjoying things, was doing Baron loops in Befallen with the wife (DRD/PAL/BRD) and are going to do it again on D2 and see how it goes.
My fav thing, other than the ding sound, is after you level and enter your first melee combat and there is a YUGE explosion of text on the screen for your skillups.
I also enjoy that stupid sound the ghouls make, the skelly laugh, and the gnome laugh.
The nostalgia is real and removing all the bullshit and turning it into a casual game is working out better than I thought it would.

No man these are the devs friends botting and selling this shit. The entire item system was designed around this shit. It was obvious from the start.

I think his implication was its just some scammers since they want your info. Aka nobody is ACTUALLY doing it.

The main thing I'm lowkey worried about for this server is that the devs are going to feel forced to alter core mechanics stuff to keep things challenging/balanced and it will end up with a game that stops feeling like EQ at some point.

Not talking about content, really. I think a mix of traditional content and new stuff is fine. I'm more talking about the functionality of the nuts and bolts stuff- spells, AC, stuns, regen, charm, mez, all that stuff.

IMO they'd be wise to stick as close as possible to the traditional mechanics.

I know I am odd man out. It was interesting to see someone play EQ on stream with full spell effects. I never had th at on back in the day. Not full on, especially during a raid and of course now it's all solo. Was interesting to me. It almost made EQ look not so dated, almost.

I remember they changed the effects at around the time of Luclin I think. They upgraded all the spell and particle effects at that time. Now IDK if they upgraded them since but thats all I remember. Some people were pissed and did not like them and some people loved them. And pretty much everyone hated the animations on the luclin era characters.

I've been using this for the last few days -



It looks so natural I forget it's not part of the game normally. The only thing I had to do was remove the nro files cause it doesn't render the door for new seb. Otherwise it was a 2 minute setup. Has updated spell effects as well.
