I enjoyed the hell out of THJ, and I've been enjoying the hell out of this too. I didn't find original EQ until 2002, maybe early 2003 (right before PoP launched), so playing "classic" era has actually been a treat and quite novel for me. THJ I didn't hop in until they were halfway through Velious, so I missed the early game there too, and just skipped straight to a lot of the newer stuff I was more familiar with. I have 5 classes to 30/31 and have probably spent the most time doing faction farming for race unlocks than anything. Can't get that cunt khajiit on the boat to give me his quest in Kerra Isle to complete that unlock though.

Gentlemen, I know that the target audience has a median income where they can afford 20 USD now and then. I have /played 8 days since release and show me a single player beating this ratio. I have really no issue shelling out 20 bucks for an Xpac every 6 months.

Stop being a poor. It's worth it for how much fun you'll have!

Sure, you're going to be in it for like $300 by the time Kunark is out, but it's cheaper than groceries.
LOL its not really about being poor, its the fucking point. How many times do I have to buy these "expansions" where they take a few zones and add some same mobs just with different names to and call them new? I bought this shit in like 1999-2000.

Link your Steam library and let's see where you've NEVER bought a Remake after buying the original....

Yes, fair. But, you're choosing to play it again now and for the company to supply the game costs them money. Maybe a lot hasn't changed and the total amount of work going into EQL isn't significant, but its a fuck-ton more entertaining than any movie you could see in the theatre (which would be a $30-$50 trip for 90 minutes).

Revamped zones. New item progression system. New spell progression system. Multi-classing. QoL improvements to the client.

Sure, may not be much to anyone who has never actually done game development, but the armchair game developers in this thread are NOTORIOUSLY ignorant and moronic.

Kunark is freeware now, has been for decades. Another thing about it that people missed. "Diety Achievements" are on the timeline for summer, but the inventory space/loadout achievements they promised you guys are nowhere to be found. Just clearly hoping your goldfish brains forgot about it.

They should do all that work for free. Or actually, they should just pay them from all the money they made off of box sales in 1999. Makes perfect sense.

No, no one is saying they should work for free. Look, I dont mind paying for shit, I really dont. I spend a shit ton on games each year. Some that I dont even fucking play, lol. But these guys got a box sale for base game of $20, and now charging $10/month PLUS a fucking cash shop with some nice and useful shit in there like bags and such. And I dont even mind that, really because of all the back end work they did, its like a new EQ game. So no, they are not working for free. In fact they prob made more on this en devour than the last 3-4 TLP combined.

Yep, and is that not how the free market is supposed to work? Nothing in the cash shop is required to be able to fully complete any and all content. If you want a giant 80% WR bag that never existed in classic or Kunark then ya, you can get that for the cost of a Big Mac. Fucking evil capitalists.

Like I said, I dont mind that, but now they will be charging a box price for an expansion. And from what I have seen of their "zone revamps" its fucking laughable. Nickle and diming us to death. And now summer is almost over and there is no additional content either that was promised. Im willing to give them a break on this because im sure they had some launch issues to iron out and all that.

They're already charging a box price, a sub price and MTX. Plenty of successful games only do one. On top of that the game is 90% remake and 10% reused assets.

Nah for a free market system to work in reality people need to go somewhere else when a service is being price gouged.

I think its just embarrassing all around its not included with any kind of Daybreak sub (not that I have one). EQL just felt like it could have been the the next TLP. The totally not THJ is holding my attention way harder and, come EQL Kunark, the FFXIV expansion will be out/right around the corner.

I think the criticism is the TBD price of kunark. Everything you mentioned is already in and paid for by the initial purchase and subscriptions, and kunark will have the subscriptions as well. I’ll admit that paying for kunark release caught me off guard, as I guess I’m more used to the TLP model where you don’t buy individual expansions.

If it’s $10-20 then I don’t really care though. Mrretardguy’s take of $20 on hundreds of hours of entertainment is absurd.

That would be nice, and maybe they will eventually but probably not. I have like 120 krono from the last TLP I did lol

One of these doesn't make sense.

When you buy a car you compare it to other cars,
When you buy food you compare it to other food,
When you buy tools you compare them to other tools,
When you buy a video game you compare it to the cost of a burrito or cost if a drink at an expensive bar.
