The people who wanted more grind and things like forced grouping left EQL last month. Those guys are definitely going to give MNM a try.

What do you mean by forced grouping?

Nobody has ever been forced to group in a MMORPG. Grouping happened because it made sense to band together and create group/class synergy. Grouping was incentivized because grouping is the default design consideration.

You must have not played OG EQ then. Some classes had literally no way to solo for xp, as in they got their assholes raped by green cons. It was what it was. Most games since then have had solo paths for everyone, but it wasn't always that way. You can look at Pantheon and MNM, the nu-old EQ clones, to see that sort of shitty game design on display.

Are you Moonarchia's forum laywer?

Forced grouping is not a figure of speech. It's a cheap slogan used by entitled carebear scrubs who lack the social skills to even form a group.

Besides, I wasn't talking to you bitch.

Largely true. Grouping was required for at least half of the 16 classes. I was disputing the forced nature.

Guess you never played a warrior during classic

kill one blue, bind up, sit for 5 min. Hope to pull a single with zero CC. die, look for a group

grouping was forced for the vast majority.

I can assure you that as a low level warrior, whenever sergeant slate caught me grinding light blue con spiders in the commonlands and then sitting for half an hour to regen, he picked me up and forced me in a group with a healer.

oh come on dont be so obtuse. Yeah you didnt have to group, but then there was no way you were going to ever see any high end content or get any gear without a group but you werent FORCED to

I don't think light blue cons were even a thing yet in the earliest days of trying to solo. Just greens and blues. Or am I misremembering that? I soloed a good chunk of my Ranger to 60 fear kiting animals when I couldnt get in a decent group. That was not amazing but it got the job done. Warriors especially had almost zero tools to do anything solo though. I remember running into some poor bastard in SOL B once trying to do spiders solo as a warrior and we teamed up and actually did pretty decent as a rng/war duo compared to trying to solo our way through it.

Light blues didn't become a thing till like SOL maybe or the very tail end of SOV.

Nitpicking the word forced is stupid. If the game makes it prohibitively difficult to play unless you do something, people call it forced. If its only slightly more advantageous to do it, that isnt forced. Eql is deliberately built around not only not forcing grouping but not even making it more advantageous to group so that people dont even feel the pressure to need it. Stated repeatedly by the devs.

Mnm and similar games are just not at all analogous. People who quit eql because group xp was "broken" and theres "no point" to grouping ...missed the point. Hopefully mnm or whatevers like it work for them. People going there for another nostalgia hit who arent prepared to have to (not fucking literally have to you autistic retards) group because the game is trying to force social elements? In for a rough time I think.

I remember giving up on getting a group as a warrior in LOIO and decided if I was going to get ahead I had to solo. It was painstakingly long but I ended up getting to 28 or 30 or whatever in order to get to the Overthere for a grouping. There was zero chance a warrior could solo in early EQ after 30, at least not with a high chance of death.

Guards in HHK, the zone is so small you can always zone out.

Producer letter out,

new zone soon, Kunark in Dec, level cap will be 55 and it will be Rulers of Kunark not Ruins…

Hail Legends!

We hope that you’re enjoying EverQuest Legends, checking out the new Dungeon Crawls, and perfecting your unique builds!

Now that we’re past launch and heading into the Fall season, I wanted to take a moment to share some of our plans for the rest of the year and beyond.

First and foremost, the team is working hard to prepare for the launch of Nektropos Castle and Lake Nerius in October! Along with Nektropos we’ll also be adding a new starting zone and a brand-new playable race as part of the update. From the outside, Nektropos looks like a stately castle surrounded by a bustling trade hub. But many dark secrets await those who find their way inside. And, perhaps … underneath? There will also be seasonal items and events to enjoy as you explore these new areas of Norrath!

After that, there’s no time to rest as we turn our sights on the release of Rulers of Kunark in mid-December! As a reminder, EverQuest Legends is set in a different timeline than the original game, so you should expect to see some major differences with this expansion. Where there were once crumbling remnants of a distant empire you will now find the factions battling for supremacy at the height of their powers. The Rulers of Kunarkexpansion will also include Reincarnation, which is a new system that will allow you to re-level your characters and unlock new abilities and increased stat caps. We will also be adding increased max levels (55), Aliases, Collections, Artes, Auction Houses, and much more!

Finally, looking forward to 2027, we are currently working on plans for additional Kunark zones, another playable race in Kunark, and two more raid zones for Kunark. We will also release a new high-level outdoor zone, Rujarkian Hills, which is being pushed back to accommodate our plan to add additional content to Nektropos. Later in 2027, we plan to release another major expansion based on Velious. And in the expansion after that we will be revisiting forgotten places and lost secrets to take the game in entirely new, if vaguely familiar, directions.

We’re super excited for all of you to join us in exploring EQ Legends as the world continues to grow and evolve. As always, we welcome your feedback and look forward to seeing you in the game soon!

Cheers,

It's certainly a choice to change one of the most beloved EQ expansions. WoW Forever makes it an easy pass.

Dumb move. Wasting resources on something no one wants. No mention of epics. Reincarnation system that lets you relevel your character. LOL why.
