shit, I just realized that one scientist guy is Wilson from House.

hate this show for introducing a cool new alien race, only have one of them on screen ever, then kill the rest of them off, offscreen. Thanks, Steven Spielberg. Finale better be worth it, cuz almost nothing has really happened this season. I hope it turns out all of them have been planted with bugs and it becomes a confusing Mexican Standoff where they just start shooting each other, and finally Karen walks on and starts shitting eggs everywhere. Then House wakes up from a drug coma.

The preview showed Karen with a white flag saying "Teh Volm aren't telling you everything!", then the preview makes it seem like the humans are believing her even though she pretty much lies about everything.

I like how Hal and Maggie were discussing how Lourdes wasn't really responsible for what she did and wondering if people would forgive her, and Hal commented that people haven't fully forgiven him yet for the things he did while under the influence of the eye worm, and then immediately after, they're like, "You know whose fault this really is? Karen! I can't wait to put a bullet between that harnessed bitch's eyes!"

I died a little inside with the super child. That's been over done to death. But overall decent finale.

And we thought walking dead had to many filler episodes lulz to this season from the start to finish we barely learned anything about the Volm.

We had very little action all season, but tons of Disney moments.

Jeez we could have had a few episodes of alien on alien battles with us caught in the middle.
Entire season was 1 massive let down shrugs.

The volm are the remnants of a species of humanoid from a planet destroyed by the ashvene. What else did you want to know?

I think Alexi is basically the next Asheni overlord. Karen was a poor man's hybrid, but Alexi is a hybrid at the genetic level. Tom being all "fuck this lie shit, DIE!" to Karen was pretty awesome, as was Maggie just gunning her down as she tries to ask Hal to forgive her ;P

lol cyb, we both suck. its Espheni.
http://fallingskies.wikia.com/wiki/Espheni
The Espheni, also known as Overlords, are an alien race and the apparent architects of the Invasion of Earth. They use harnesses to command humans and skitters - their enslaved subjects - and appear to have designed the Mechs and the Crawlies. They are seen acting in administrative roles, overseeing the work of skitters and an enslaved Karen Nadler in What Hides Beneath. In Homecoming Pope calls them "Fishheads", and in the next episode Weaver refers to them by that name, but it isn't used again for the rest of season 2.

The existence of the Overlords was first hinted at by Uncle Scott, who remarked to Tom Mason that it's unlikely the six-legged Skitters would design bipedal robots like the Mechs. Hal Mason, Tom, and Weaver are the first members of the 2nd Massachusetts Militia Regiment to discover the Overlords, on a scouting mission in Boston about 7 months after the attack. Tom speculates that if they are the commanders of the Skitters, they might have been staying in the safety of their Motherships up to this point, but now feel it is safe enough to move around the city.

In the season one finale, after Tom and Weaver badly damage the Mothership, an Overlord, along with Karen, intercept them. Karen reveals that the Overlords didn't expect so much resistance and that they found that interesting. They also wanted to talk. Tom and Weaver were furious that, after having killed millions of people and taken their children, they now want to negotiate. Despite this, Karen tells Tom that the Overlords can stop Ben's transition into a skitter if he comes with them. Despite Weaver's protests, Tom agrees saying that he can't let them take Ben back.

It has been confirmed that they have invaded other worlds as well leading to the skitters becoming their slaves. It seems that throughout their galatic conquests they have made other enemies, and even now they have arrived on Earth. The Overlords technology appears to be almost exclusively (besides Mechs, Motherships, and a few others) bio-organic and seemingly "alive" able to control and manipulate it at will. .
oh and the Volm

http://fallingskies.wikia.com/wiki/Volm
Hundreds of years ago the Volm were attacked by the Espheni. While the details of the conflict have not been stated, the Volm apparently lost the war and the species fled into space in generation ships (whether or not the entire population managed to escape has not been stated, although those who failed to evacuate were presumably captured & forced into service through Harnesses).

It is assumed that their homeworld has since been occupied, because Cochise reveals that he has never visited his homeplanet. They have since been battling the Espheni for hundreds of years and wish to liberate the galaxy from the Overlords.(On Thin Ice)
Volm ShipsThe Volm spacecraft enter Earth's atmosphere.
PPereraAdded by PPerera
They first arrived on Earth in the middle of a massive storm (possibly generated by their ship in orbit), dropping through the atmosphere in dozens of pod-like craft, though their numbers are open to question as the initial shot of their landing showed only 17 different pods, so it's possible there aren't that many of them. They were possibly scouts. It is later stated that Cochise's group of Volm only consists of about twenty members. They wear form-fitting armored suits with wing-like protrusions and a visor that retracts to show their face.

From the fact that the Overlords were constructing some form of weapon, and Ben's comments about the weapon not being intended for humans; it can be inferred that this weapon might have been used against them, and that they are a clear enemy to the Overlords.
The presence of a "smile" of sorts suggests that they have knowledge of humanity,[1]
UntitledA still from the April teaser trailer.
Kevin FrushourAdded by Kevin Frushour
as we've never seen the Skitters or the Overlords show such a human expression.

They are shown to possess weapons that rival even the Espheni such as some kind of energy rifle that can obliterate even Mega Mechs easily.
7 months laterEdit
Seven months later the Volm number around 20-25 and spend most of their time in a tower constructed by them. They have upgraded some of the weaponry in the 1st Continental Army's arsenal. They have secretly been constructing a cannon capable of destroying the Motherships. They also provided the resistance with a machine capable of safely removing Harnesses without harming the host child. However some of the resistance is skeptical of the Volm's intentions.

HomeworldEdit

While the Volm planet of origin is still unnamed, Cochise stated that their planet has defined seasons, with the weather alternating between cold and warm.

The planet was also home to a flower-like species called Catarius by the native Volm. Like many similar organisms on Earth, the Catarius has no value to anyone except as decorations.

The planets current status following the Overlord invasion is unknown but it can be assumed that their homeworld is still under enemy occupation and is much different now than it was prior to the Espheni's invasion. However the planet clearly still exists and is either still habitable or the ecological damage can at least be reversed, as the Volm one day hope to liberate it and return home.
BiologyEdit

The Volm are a humanoid species that bear a large resemblance to Earth mammals, epecially bats, but with reptilian skin. Compared to the Espheni and the Skitters , the Volm bare a strong resemblance to humans, but still differ from them in many ways.

The Volm are slightly taller than the average human; Cochise -- one of the Volm -- appears to be around six-and-a-half feet tall. While the Volm have mammalian-like eyes, they are set wider apart than in humans and have eyelids that blink slightly diagonally.

The Volm have two nostril-like holes on their faces, which in turn have two nostrils in them, much like many species of bats. The Volm also have multiple slit-like holes in between their noses and eyes which serve an unknown function, if any. The ears of the Volm are little more than holes in the sides of their heads. The Volm have noticeably bald, bulbous skulls which taper to a rounded point. (This is where Pope gets the name "Bubble-head" from.)

The hands of the Volm possess three fingers and a thumb, and appear to be just as dexterous as a human hand. Despite the obvious differences, the Volm possess a human-like mouth, a physical trait not seen in the Espheni and Skitters. Further unlike the Espheni and the Skitters, the Volm can speak fluent English without any kind of assistance, suggesting the structure of their vocal folds is similar if not identical to that of humans.

Volm bodies can withstand greater physical stress than a human, as Cochise was able to shield President Benjamin Hathaway when their plane crashed and was able to remain relatively unharmed.(The Pickett Line) In addition to their durability, the Volm have a regenerative ability that allows them to recover from grievous injuries in a matter of hours, provided they are not disturbed. The Volm have purple blood.(Journey to Xilbalba)
SocietyEdit

Little is known about Volm society and beliefs. Currently their civilization is fractured and scattered through the galaxy following the Overlords invasion. Whether or not the various populations maintain active contact with each other or form cells that are essentially on their own (like the Skitter Rebellion) has not been stated.

According to Cochise, the Volm still maintain extensive data files on their own history and culture prior to the Volm diaspora. The Volm also write poems, many dating back prior to the war still exist.

Currently the population is confined to vast Generation Ships and their society is committed to total Guerrilla warfare against the Overlords. Whether or not the entire species is devoted to the resistance or if some simply remain in hiding in the depths of space is unknown.

I was a bit let down by the regular episode feel of the finale...but also glad that the story didn't go ultra retarded with the Volm being just as bad as the Espheni.

I like how the Volm are portrayed as pragmatic. They show up to an Espheni conquered planet, relocate the indigenous population to an area where they will be safe from war, and then they wreck the motherfucking Espheni.

I don't really feel like Alexis is going to end up a new overlord. I think she's going to end up being either the key to victory for humankind, or when the Volm find out about her they're going to want to obliterate her...causing a possible human/volm conflict IF Alexis ends up being the key to the entire victory for humankind. This is where I can see the pragmatism of the Volm being a HUGE flaw for them.

At the end there
When Alexis goes up to Lordis, I looked at my fiance and went "WATCH THIS SHIT, SHE'S GONNA CONTROL THE EYEWORMS CAUSE SHE'S A HYBRID!" and lo and behold. Also, LOLKAREN

Only thing I do not like about this show are the little worms. The harness concept I was good with, but the little worms make me essentially not trust anyone in the show. I love how people keep touching and making contact with people they know have the worms. Tom's wife could have an entire infestation of them in her with the ability to slowly spread them for all they know. The little girl could indeed either be the next overlord or innocent and willing to help humans. Karen releasing both of them out of the goodness of her heart...really? The colonel having heart problems sucks though, as I like his character. Surprised he did not ask the Volm to perhaps help out with that. I highly doubt the Volm are out to exterminate Humans, so at least we understand the dynamics of the aliens. It was a pretty good season. Battlestar Galatica did not have fight after fight after fight and I enjoyed that show.

Good finale but so much shit in the show is annoying. Little girl can pull out worms, will she ever get used to ensure everyone remaining has no worms? nope.

Volm Commander said this was the first planet they have been on where the indigenous people fight back implying they have successfully liberated a ton of planets so far, which kinda makes the entire rest of the show sort of boring. The commander even says "We've sworn an oath to protect the people we fight for", which rules out a shady backstabby Volm twist like them burning the planet to get rid of the Espheni, but of course that's exactly whats going to happen later.

The entire Ann plot was bizarre and disjointed, from her leaving to being unharmed to death-fake to her just standing around in the woods while the ship takes off. I'm glad these guys got the trains and ships rolling again though, I expect next season we'll find ourselves on a nuclear sub or maybe the space shuttle.

next season padding is going to be awful, with 2-3 episodes revolving around civilians who want to go to Brazil angry at the soldiers who want to stay and fight and be MURICAN. And every episode is gonna be like this season, where some shit happens but by the end of the episode its back to normal.

You know the show I want to see? The first episode of season 4 is them beating the shit out of the remaining Espheni, and then the Volm are so much in awe they ask the humans to help them take back their homeworld. Thats season 4, humans fucking invading other planets. Season 5 is the combined fleet attacking the Espheni home stars, which turns out to be a giant Ringworld. FUCKING HALO BITCHES.

Lol. Karen's "gift" will have strings attached I'm sure. I think the main focus for S4 will be hybrid kid and what that means, esp in regards to the Volhm. What happens when the species you are sworn to protect start to get hybridized with the one you are sworn to destroy?

I would watch spronk's Season 4 and 5.

I am thinking that the Ann plot was specifically so she could take more time off to be with her own kid in real life, and get a little bit back in shape, because she was fat as fuck at the beginning of this season. I'm not fond of the whole hybrid kid plot either, but I am sure like everyone is predicting that it will be a huge part of the next season. I'm just glad she cured Lourdis, because she's fucking hot. Now if they could give her (Lourdis) a role bigger than just fixing people up when the real doctor isn't around, but doesn't involve her betraying everyone and looking like ass at the end.

Tom's moment was awesome, but Maggie was kind of a bitch there. I understand why, but still, she looked like a typical woman scorned.

thats because she was. she is was mega jealous of Karen. she wanted to make sure no fucking way this bitch horns her way in between her man even as she is about to die. i guess you could say she was being a petty cunt, but there is a lot of history there of her getting fucked over by that mason a-hole whenever karen pops up. when she finally blasted that bitch dead i was rooting for her.

Just what this show needed, another annoying child... At least they aged her, because that baby at the beginning of the season was beyond creepy.

It still annoys me that they are all, "Oh, it wasn't really you!" when it comes to Hal and Lourdes being possessed by the Espheni, but with Karen, it's just "Fuck her!" I mean, with the Volm mothership now landed in Boston, they even had the technology to remove her harness, but why do that when you can just shoot the bitch? Too bad, because I sort of found her to be a unique villain.

Speaking of the Espheni, I found it a little odd that they gave the guys a name and spent so much time talking about them, but I don't think we ever saw a single one the entire season.

Well they were always rare...they basically sit in the background and let their minions/mechs do the dirty work. I got the distinct impression that the one they killed was the only one on the East coast (which is why Karen replaced it).
