Far Cry 6

Love far cry.

I loved the setting of FC5, but the only thing worse than the mechanic where you were forced to be captured 12 fucking times, was the 'ending'.

But man it was gorgeous, I explored every inch of that place. I have a weak spot for these types of games.

Shit sucked on the hard mode because you lost all your op guns.

These games would profit from a more robust progression and item system. I played fc5 and yeah shit gets old real quick.

i've played a bit of FC6, its pretty much like every ubisoft game made in the last decade. Massive maps with the same loop of "take over area by doing the same 5-10 things, go through a story cutscene, rinse and repeat".

One nice thing is it will support 2 player co-op and it works pretty seamlessly and cross platform too, but only 2 player sadly. I think there is supposed to be some multiplayer PVP thing too but i'm not sure about that, they are always really pretty shitty in these Ubisoft games anyways.

I'd expect another 100+ hour game, to me thats the most frustrating thing, there is a core of a good game in these but they bloat it up way too much. FC4 and FC5 were fun for 15-20 hours then just got exhaustingly repetitive.

Same issue I had with AC Valhalla. These games just REFUSE TO END. They could cut the runtime by half or even two-thirds and have a fantastic game on their hands. If people want more time out of it they can just replay it. And at a reasonable length people will actually WANT to replay it. The way things are, these games completely outstay their welcome.

In October I'll be playing Metroid Dread and Castlevania/Bloodstained* so I don't know if I'll even have time for Far Cry 6. If it's a reasonable 20-30 hour game I can maybe fit it in somewhere. However if it turns out to be another 90 hour slog I might just pass on it until some later time.

* - Doing a Halloween-themed co-play series with a friend. Castlevania Rondo of Blood and SOTN, then Bloodstained (the modern one and the two retro ones). I've never played any of those except SOTN so I'm looking forward to that.

Edit: It's worth noting that I have this pre-ordered and do plan to play it.

So I am going to speak with my wallet this time. I am so tired of Ubisoft's political shit entering these games. Was watching the preview and there is a segment in there being highlighted of a conversation with some Cuban lady trying to get to America.

"I am going to leave Cuba and live the American Dream"
"You mean get a shit job for shit pay?"
"Yeah have to start somewhere and I want to own a Motorcycle shop"
"Sorry. The American dream doesn't come in our color"

Fuck off.

At least in FC5 we had Clutch Nixon.

That leads me to expect it to be pervasive.
