I have WoL's BSB Sheild. If you dont have holy gear you can make up the difference with your second DPS using some 5* abilities, another knight most likely.
I've tried doing it with other characters (Agrias) but the speed boost from the OSB and powerchain access is unique to Orlandeau.

i've got Hope's BSB glove and Basch's ancient Platinum Shield for +Holy armor
i was going to look into helping you with your last two Nightmares but it slipped my mind. i'll look up the Reddit threads and put some thought into it later today man.
but don't you still have another hurdle to get to Shadow Dragon -- Holy and Dark magicites don't unlock until after you beat the other 6 elements.

Oh I forgot Red XIII usb has astra too so I could also bring him either as just another source of astra or he could be our main support if we do a physical team.

i hear Fujin's LD kinda sucks in practice. Shelke is an obvious great option, tho pretty specific to magicite.
you can probably make an argument for any character that has a doublecast LM2. Aerith's gives a chance to do a small medica for any white magic ability, so you can kinda lump her in the doublecast category.
Setzer comes to mind, his LD adding a totally unique debuff (ATK/MAG/MND).

The best non-relic legend dives are Shelke (for entrust) and Shadow (for ninja). Shadow's better than Edge because his LD gives more universal ninja boosting, while Edge focuses mostly on water.
Like mentioned, any doublecasters can make good use of a legend dive, but the very narrow doublecasters (like Tidus with only DC water) isn't as good. You want to dive doublecasters with entire schools, like Bartz with any spellblade (which covers 6 elements).

This game is funny. Gives me stuff I don't need, always.
100 gem'd Fest1, grabbed Vivi's BSB2 which is fine? Party 30% MAG/RES buff. Then 100 gem'd Fest3, got Cloud's BSB2 for Cloud USB+BSB/Zack USB+BSB shenanigans that I don't even know what to do with.
What I need is ice. I've avoided farming Fenrir because I don't know what strategy to use--I've got Edea BSB, Ayame BSB, and Fran's machine gun imperil USB or the ever-potent Terra spam--nothing has seen me get close enough to sub-30. Where's my ice stuff?

It's a bummer cuz I had the option to pick this up during the choose-your-own-adventure BSB thing they did a few months ago but opted for Raines (no regrets). So I lack Metsu...

So any 6* was a win in my book but if it had to be a vanilla flavored pull, I was crossing my fingers for Squall BSB since I've heard/seen really good things with it and I already had his USB, OSB, and BSB (the shitty one)

For Squall BSB2 I always give him the dualcast spellblade generic materia on top of his dualcast legend materia. I cross my fingers for a triple cast on my first command 1 (it stacks up to three times), but if I only get singlecasts on my first two cmd1s I call it good enough. Then spam cmd2 and win. I think with potential double/triple casts on cmd2 it ends up being better than any of his soulbreaks. But I don't remember the specifics of his USB that well.
So now it sounds like we should all bust out our LD'd Squalls along with my Rinoa chain and slaughter a raid sometime.

I stop at the 2nd charge of his bsb. If the first CMD1 doublecasts, I go right into CMD2 for the rest of the duration. It's a net damage loss to "waste" a turn manually going from charge2 to charge3 before using CMD2 because then you're going to get one less cast out of CMD2 before his burst mode ends, and charge2-->3 is only 1 extra hit. Adding party quickcast or instantcast can change that up though.
If you have his BSB2, all of his other soulbreaks, including his USB aren't worth using because BSB2 outdamages everything (assuming the fight lasts long enough to do a full duration of his burst mode).
