So any idea if the extra secret character from War of the Lion are going to be in the remaster? Like Balthier.

Or the extra classes like onion knight or dark knight?

Highly doubt it. The Pixel Remasters of FF1-6 got rid of all the extra stuff added by later versions of those games and went back to their base forms.

But Tactics Ogre Reborn was ported from the PSP update and not the original release..?

Oh man. war of the lion on psp was fantastic.

My son has wanted to play this because I always talk so fondly of it. But alas I only have it on ps1 and psp. But this will be great to play together.

Hopefully it sells really well and they revisit this genre with a new fft game.
You can buy it on your phone right now if you really want it.

Different company I thought?

Well, we'll see. My expectations are pretty much bare minimum on most of these port situations.

What I'd like to see is them fixing Cloud to make him actually useful. He's one of the worst characters in FFT, and it's a shame because his attacks look REALLY cool (IIRC he has an attack above Omnislash, which is kind of interesting, as well). However he's incredibly slow and his attacks don't track, so they almost inevitably hit air. Not sure if this was due to his level being terrible when you recruit him, his speed being bad, or the attacks themselves being fundamentally way too slow to be viable. If it's the first (levels) maybe I could power him up into usefulness.

Either way, my experience is that in the age of characters like Orlandu and Meliadoul, Cloud can't hack it. On the other hand, Luso (the guy from FFTA2) was a super solid character, and I think Balthier was good too.

It would be kind of weird for them to specifically mention that they're using the WotL translation and not be using anything else from WotL, but who knows.

I thought they said they were using the ps1 1997 version for the remaster not WotL?
"The classic version unites the graphics and gameplay of the original game with the renowned War of the Lions translation and includes convenient features such as auto save."

WotL is one of the few times where a remaster makes a lot of changes and the end result is indisputably better. Lots of jobs require another level or two to unlock meaning you can't access them quite as early, Rafa, Malak, and Reis got buffed substantially to make them more viable, divine knight sword skills got buffed to work if nothing is equipped in that slot meaning meliadoul isn't worthless against monsters, cloud is recruitable earlier (he's still worthless if they didn't lower the AT delay on his skills though), and most importantly they nerfed the everliving fuck out of the Wiegraf fight which means you don't have to use insane shit like scream/auto potion cheese to not get absolutely destroyed by his zodiac form.

Bruh just choose the specific zodiac at character creation that hard counters him. You've got lots more options then.

I also bricked myself once during your first fight with the assassins. I had zero characters that could take an action before they killed Rafa and the game ended. An early run before I knew wtf I was doing I did the yell bullshit with Ramza to get past Wiegraf only to be unable to win a single random battle after because of how skewed the levels were. I think I could wriggle out of both of those situations now but back in the day it was just a reset.
