You can get win10 pro keys for like 10-20bucks, and if you don't want to pay you can do some shenanigans with activating on taiwanese servers cause they use the chinese version which is free. Hell if you don't give a shit you can just use an unregistered version, just have to live with the watermark.

And they won't stop working, they just stop updating shit. They'll stop working, eventually, but not in 3months.

Regardless it's a Microsoft thing not a Square enix, they drop support because microsoft is, just like they dropped PS3 support because Sony did(and also because that shit was probably fucking annoying to dev for with the limitations).

You CAN login to the windows client if you have a live steam subscription though. I've never tried logging into a PS4 client with my (steam) account but I imagine that would work fine.

Which begs the question, could you rent the PS4 client somewhere and be able to keep playing it after returning it (assuming you keep subscribing).

How are you going to log in the PS4 client with Steam, it's not like you can run PSN off Steam. If you mean a streaming service that actually has PS4 then yeah you can definitely do that but Steam doesn't do that.

As for the other thing, you did that recently? They just(as in like a few weeks ago iirc) fucked around with some of that shit to force people to use Steam/Windows client with their respective games or something. I don't really know the extent of it, but technically they're the same version so it makes sense you can just login whatever, just I think they didn't like it for one reason or another. Anyway not the same thing, and while you can login through them, you still can't buy the "wrong" expansions and activate them properly, at least with Mac and PS4 version(iirc Steam also had some weird shit going on where you could launch the base windows game via Steam then buy the expansions on that and it somehow worked even though it shouldn't, but might be fixed).

If someone is on an older OS and needs a legit Windows 10 key, PM me. I have access to multiple activation keys for Win 10 Pro as I have a Visual Studio subscription (formerly MSDN subscription).

Anyways I haven’t touched this in a few months. Is now the time to comeback and check it out or should I wait?

I dunno, I've never logged into a PS4 client.

As for the PC/Steam versions yeah, I logged into a non-steam client and it played fine like last a couple weeks ago.

I'm aware of the steam/non-steam expansion problems, but I'm just talking about logging in and playing on a mac/steam/ps4 client. If I found someone with FFXIV installed on their PS4 could I log into it and play?

From a PS4 yeah, not from another platform. PS4 login requires you login via PSN, if you don't have a PC license it won't let you login from the PC client. Mac... I have no idea tbh.

Depends on what a few months is and where you left off. If you played Shadowbringers, no new content until the 29th(not confirmed but super unlikely it'll be the 22nd) so no real reason to resub before that. If you haven't played Shadowbringers, then fuck yeah the expansion is the best they've made and by the time you're done clearing shit and what not 5.1 will hit for more content. Can also wait for free days if you did buy Shadowbringers and just do content for free like that.

Personally I'm resubbing a bit before the patch to prepare a few things and do the new content but mostly to do BLU nonsense, since that content dies in a matter of like 2 weeks and I like BLU stuff.

Good point, I forgot about BLU. I didn't even get all the spells because the party finders all dried up.

It's quite likely however that BLU will only be available 1-2weeks after, they did the same shit when it launched, they had the patch first and BLU later so people had time to do the new content(MSQ and Nier 24man in this case) without feeling like they have to rush leveling. But past that yeah it'll be nice to grind. Might be good to grind the old stuff too, or it'll be easier to solo at 60 for some of it(dungeons especially should be fairly doable at 60 unsynced), and they might also make it easier to farm stuff that's a bit unclear but they did hint at BLU somehow being affected by removing the echo to fights(they haven't said how and it might not be relevant but maybe removing echo will give higher droprates on primal shit, which would be great if it's substantial enough).

If we project from 4.1 what Crafting Recipes can we expect in 5.1 ? Gathering and Crafting gear and specialist recipes wasn't it ? Wish I kept notes going through 4.1, 4.2 4.3 etc

You can just read the 4.1 patch notes? That said since they're possibly tweaking shit who knows how it'll go this time. But assuming it's the usual pattern, new crafting gear set(Ala Mhigan in 4.1), the first blue stuff.

5.1 is going to be big for crafting anyways with Ishgard Restoration, so besides the next tier crafting gear, there will also be crafting rewards for the restoration.

I also suspect some big stuff they didn't want to hint during the previous live letters. Crazy guess: They make VII rank materia penta-melding easier and the materia market crashes. They never like to tip their hat in the direction of things that mixup the economy.

They could be tied, and they could also crash the materia market via Ishgard restoration and what not. Also isn't desynth rework this patch? This could have large impacts depending on how they rework it.

The liveletter at the end of the week should shed some light on the amplitude of the changes coming, although as usual they won't go in too much details that could affect the economy like telling us exactly what is rewarded, how easily and how many and so on.

Anyway finished Nier Automata this weekend so ready for the 24man. Although not sure how they're gonna make a good model without some thickness to them thighs. Need a butt/thigh slider.

You can already print VIIs, and while you will make some money if you stockpiled it will be nowhere near the early expansion amounts of money. They have trivialized crafting requirements enough already.

4.1 added a second tier of crafting/gathering gear but it was only Main hand tools + left side gear. Basically it will only be craft/control and gather/perception boosts if the same happens in 5.1. They only added 3 new gathered materials one for each DoL and then a new scrip and tome mat. The scrip mat will be white scrip which is still rather easy to grind and tomes will be flooded by the hunt train people who are upgrading i460 tome gear to i470 via nuts (which also provide a ton of goetia).

TL;DR unless they do something different from 4.1 then direct money making opportunities will be limited with an even smaller time frame than 5.05 savage crafting.

5.1 should be desynth, new craft/gather gear, the start of Ishgard Restoration (though from the last live letter, we wont get the meat of it yet, so I feel like we might get the Ahn Quiraj donation step of content here), the rework of the craft window.

I havent had much faith in crafting since they started putting housing stuff everywhere else. For fucks sake stop putting housing shit as drops, make it crafted. No worse feeling than getting 10 ishgard themed housing items and realizing the other 20 from this expansion are end step fate grinding or from maps, and apparently I'm the only person on crystal who gives a shit about doing those this expansion.

Side note, if anyone is on Coeurl and wants to make $, I'm trying to buy another alt FC or two for more submarines. Apparently I cant make more FC's so I have to buy them.
