I've always thought 4 was better than 6. As a kid we got 2 and then 3 for the SNES so FF2(4) was my first.

I've always liked 4's characters and story but then 6 added some features and then took the villain character to the next level so I see why people credit it to being the best.

FF on Nes was the first for me, but 6, 4, 7 are my faves with 6 being first. Kefka also had the best boss music, with one of the best covers. (Guitar solo at the end around 8:00 is amazeballs).

As for FFXIV, I'm enjoying it more like a single player rpg. Story wise it's not bad, but the older I get and the more I read good sci-fi/fantasy, the more I get disappointed that people seem to miss on crafting good stories in video games.

I downloaded from the website. Also found out I had an old Square account from 2009 associated with my email!

Can't create new characters on Gilgamesh, there is only one option for new characters.

Servers will become open and close off frequently. If you just keep refreshing, or wait until a less crowded time, you should be able to getin.

Is there any reason to grind further once u finish the main story and unlock other quests? I suppose people want to get their item level up but am weighing play other jobs and maybe level one or two more to 80...since nothing carries over when new expansion launches.... Right?

Kind thoughts please

If you get max ilevel items for the end of this xpac, they will probably carry you into mid or late 80s next xpac if they follow the same pattern as previous expansions. They arent replaced by greens off trash instantly like some other MMOs.

The game has a variety of things to do and caters to different play styles.

You can do the latest raid and get your gear there pretty quickly, or buy crafted gear off the market, or do a grind to get gear. The item levels are all pretty similar and all viable for endgame, so you do what you enjoy.

Tons of casual stuff for endgame, fashion, housing, casino miniganes, chocobo racing, colectable card game, pet battles...

I loved 4, but 6 seemed like an overall major improvement over 4. Kefka kinda stole the show there.

Also Kefka's theme in XIV shook me lmao

Tried some Gshader today and yeah it made the game prettier for sure with the correct options on.

Also got my Lancer to 30 and became Dragoon. I quite like the gameplay at 60 running PoTD, hopefully it wont get too complicated going to 80.

Leveling other jobs is a solid option imo. Once you get them to 71, grinding Zadnor is a solid way to 80 and platinum coins buy i525 gear anyway which is decent and kills 2 birds with one stone. Also relic glam if you're into that sort of thing as those questlines will be harder to finish come 6.0 anyway.

It actually really sucks how hard it is to get a house. I actually really got into the housing in ESO for a while. I spent big bucks on furniture (eso monies, was rich from playing the market) and spent a lot of time fucking around with housing. I never saw myself ever doing MMO housing, but when it's really good, it's easy to get sucked in. I watched the Asmon clip if him looking at houses and those look great.

Too bad getting a house in FFXIV is about as competitive as the real housing market about now!

You can rent an apartment for £500k but to be honest, it isn't a rental, if you decide to vacate you lose all your gil so yeah.

I hardly ever used mine but I'd be interested in what you get from an apartment over just a normal inn room aside from being able to tart it up to the point of it being a monument to bad taste.

Just seems not worth it if you go inactive and lose all your furniture and shit. You spend all that time meticulously placing it, but you can't ever go inactive.

What's the furniture cap by the way? ESO has a frustratingly low furniture cap for how massive some of the houses are.

Unlike Estates (Owned) you don't lose an Apartment if you take a break.

Someone will know better but I think you can store up to 50 pieces of furniture in an apartment.

Yeah owning a house is the true subscription trap. You need to enter it at least once every 45 days for it not be auto-demolished.

How do I find a level appropriate spot to grind my Dark Knight job so I have something to do when I'm waiting for duties to pop?

You are having queues long enough to grind while queuing as a tank?

Also, aside from Fates, there isn't really any way to grind outside of instanced content. You should probably either spam highest level dungeon or just run POTD to level it quickly.

typically 5-6 minutes, so just enough time to start getting bored and enough time that I could probably be knocking out non MS quests.

What level are you right now? Could probably either bang a few level appropriate side quests, or just do a Fate meanwhile (though Fates can take a while if there is nobody in the zone and you end up having to solo one).
