Playing Catch up in this game sucks. I won't hit 70 this week which means I'll be permanently behind getting drops from the omega raid
Which will be obsolete in 3 months so don't even worry about it. This game gives new gear and easy ways to be competitive all the time.

Wellp.

Heavensward was a very good story, right up until the end where it all got fucked up and my eyeballs are forever scarred by the hideous palette and artistic choices of the Allagan places and V'ger the dungeon. Yikes.

You realize that everyone expects Master V books to be out at the same time, along with creation tomes. Which means everyone will be getting 330 creation gear, 320 or 330 crafted combat gear, 340 savage gear, and whatever dungeon and other stuff comes along. 320 weekly token drops are not going to be that critical.

Plus, itemization can kinda sucks on 320 gear.

I mean, all the spell speed on the casting gear is great for BLM/SMN, but totally sucks for RDM.

Other than weapons, 10ilvl rarely makes a huge difference either. Well some extreme cases of aoe fuckery that does just the right damage to kill you if you don't have enough hp, so the 10ilvl vit on left side is useful, but you can meld some vit in your accs to compensate nowadays, even without having to spend a fortune on crafted accs.

But yeah the casual omega stuff is for casual, it's not relevant gear other than being a bit better than the shit you get from the uncapped tomes, but only slightly. The one annoying part is being 1week behind on the weapon drop though I guess. But that shouldn't be particularily relevant since it takes 7 weeks to complete anyway, so you'll either already have cleared savage if in a good static, or still be somewhere in the middle of it and be 1 week late.

Been leveling a DRK. Not sure how I feel about it. 60+ dungeons are way easier than I expected and I have a feeling its less about me being a tank and more that healing just seems crazy good.

My Red Mage is in full 310 gear, and I did the 4 raids this week to start collecting the pieces for the 320 armor.

My scholar who is only 67 has almost a full set of 310 gear waiting for him when he reaches 70. :)

I want to do a tank next, never played one in FF14. So I have a question.

The only thing I do is regular casual stuff, Duty Roulette, and the normal raids...not planning on bleeding edge extreme content...not as a tank anyways. For that type of content, are all tank viable? And if so which is the simplest to play, not so much concerned about putting out DPS but holding aggro and survivability.

Thanks.

They are all viable so play the one you like best, especially at casual dungeon level.

That said, as a healer, I like warriors there last, as they eat my MP bar and because chain casting heals on them when they try to show how baller they are by pulling the zone in one go is not fun.

Paladin feels great for dungeon tanking, shit like Clemency, Cover and Intervention to save retards. It's just kinda bad whenever you get a low lvl dungeon and all you do is rage of halone combo cause the alternative combos only are available at 54 and 60. Not as bad as before though cause you can use the spinning aoe move that helps with damage at least. I'd just avoid WAR, although they might be buffing them guess we'll see. DRK looks fun but a lot of their nice tools come after 60, while they removed a lot of the stuff pre 60 that was nice before, so not sure how enjoyable they are to lvl. For capped stuff though they look pretty solid.

As a warrior main I have no issues with tanking all current content. Our rotation is pretty set in stone. We have a little less utility then paladin. Paladins are the kings of casulol content at the moment. They take less thought and do more damage while mitigating more damage. DRK has some juggling with mana so they are probably the most complex at the moment.

All tanks are fine. Warriors have the easiest rotation, Paladins are the king of everything and only slightly more difficult in rotation while darks have the most complex but still simple when compared to deeps rotation.

Impossible to zone into the Lochs on Gilgamesh because the people waiting for Ixion have maxed out the zone population. There's about 29 people outside trying to zone in over and over now too.

edit: finally spawned.

Ixion requiring 6kills for the reward, assuming all gold, is pretty retarded. Means it'll be overcamped for a while. Meanwhile foxy lady gives you enough materials to buy everything in a single kill.

Hope you guys don't need to go to the Lochs any time soon. Meanwhile, I'll be stocking up on as much Everborn Aethersand as I can...

Do the first 3 of the weekly turn in with Khloie or whatever the fuck her name is and get a right side piece and some goblin dice to upgrade it. Then do the other 3 you can this week. Come Thursday you will do it again and have fully upgraded right side.
Oh btw thanks for that, had completely forgotten this was a thing. I'm not using the scrips for accessories since I'll just craft 70 white HQ stuff soonish anyway, plus at least for my crafters, while I was using old ass 2.0 gear, it was pentamelded so it was close enough to scrip gear anyway so it felt like a waste. On the other hand since I didn't play all of HW I have A LOT of folklore gathering books to pick up for completion, and Zhloe turn ins give a ton of scrips for basically no effort at all.

From what I've seen and also what I've read, they fucked up crafting balance heavily with the expansion. Prudent Touch is retarded. For only 3CP more than basic touch, you only use half the durability. Along with Manipulation II making durability more efficient than even the old king master mend II, you can HQ shit really really easily even without crazy melds or anything. Hell people have macros HQing 100% out of NQ mats with half melded gear. Obviously, once the 1star(and maybe 2star not sure if that's in) are released next week it won't be as easy to macro them, but manually should still be a joke, especially as specialist which apparently is good now? I've never tried specializing yet so I don't know.

Thanks for the info about the tanks. I'll most likely be try the DRK first since it's thematically the one that I like best. If the rotation or playstyle end up not being to my liking I'll fall back on paladin...warrior doesn't appeal to me.

Zhloie is like 440 scripts min for 15 minutes. It's retarded good.

I haven't looked much at crafting
My highest is like 40. I should start though if getting stars will be that easy.

Specialization basically gets a free +15 CP on 2nd turn. My crafted HQ set gets me like 1355 / 1198 / 454 CP base with zero tool melds and only quad melded on shared gear, so i can eat the vendor food and my specialists can macro 1-star easy.

If I haven't played since right around a month before Heavensward is catching up for the sake of playing through as simple as following the main storyline quests still?

Worth playing casually to experience the new content? I think I had most of the melee/tank jobs at L50.
