Eh? Why change it though? The riders are aware of the risk. People flock there every year to see it, the island runs on tourism. It's a modern gladiatorial event with the only real adversary being yourself. Let it remain the way it is.

Same reason motogp/WSBK and all the other series have such stringent safety requirements these days, because everyone recognizes the riders are going to race regardless for money/glory, and it's not a good idea nor fair to them to run a race where their lives are unnecessarily placed at risk.

No different to me than loan sharks, rigged gambling houses, drug dealers etc "nobody makes those people go into the rigged casinos, they know the risk", "nobody makes that guy buy heroin"... but you know they're going to do it anyway and you profit from/enjoy watching it.

I don't like seeing young men die doing a sport I watch for enjoyment when there's no reason for it.

Except that basically nobody gets paid to do the TT. It's an icon because the riders want it to be. If the riders wanted it safer, they'd stop racing in it. But they don't want it to change.

I hope Kimi sticks it on pole again in the morning. Love to see if Ferrari has to make another akward call during the race to ensure Vettel gets the points.

MotoGP race today was absolutely epic. 0.063 seconds for Rossi win. So that's almost 21 years of consecutive wins across all available classes.

Disappointing that Zarco pitted.

He was in 5th, right? So instead of taking 5th or so he decided to go for the win by betting the rain would come. He bet wrongly, but it has balls. He needs to figure out how to finish a race. He's clearly got speed.

I think he was in 5th, yeah. But he should probably emulate what the points leaders are doing. The track wasn't wet enough to justify the switch imo.

He also needs to start racing on the med compounds. He'll lead on the starts and then fall off at the end. The tires just don't have the extra 5 laps of durability he needs to maintain the pace.

All of the motos were great. F1 was pretty good too. Seb is getting a little too italian with that temper tantrum.

So now that little french midget Todt, is looking into punishing Seb Vettel substantially for that incident. Combining it with Seb's Mexico-swear-jar tirade and potentially charging him with "Putting the sport into disrepute."

Options:
Race ban.
Multi-race ban.
Season championship points stripped.
License points added. (He's already at nine, so more would likely see him miss next race as a minimum).

Also, this is incredible. How on Earth does this little air speed sensor mounted in the floor, survive more than one lap?

Looks like they would be higher than the skid block, so ... absent uneven bumps that don't hit the skid block but do hit the bottom of the car, should be pretty safe.

Sergio Marchionne slamming Kimi Raikkonen again after today's race. Must be time to announce his new contract extension, lol.
