Actually this was brought up during the 2 days we lost when the server died. It wasn't the Night King it was just a regular walker's ice aura putting out a fire so that he could enter the hut and fight Jon. The wights themselves auto-die to any fire, normal or otherwise but the walkers can use ice magic to extinguish incidental flames so that it doesn't kill them. If you built a wall of fire to block the undead hordes, the wights would die unless the walkers commanded them to hold position, but the walkers themselves might be able to carve out a small path through the flames using their ice magic.
It's mostly irrelevant though, dragon fire and fire magic is far stronger than regular flame, they have no defense against this. if you are a show only guy you may have missed this with the way they mismanaged the Qarth scenes from season 2. But even 2 week old hatchling dragon fire overpowers illusion, necromancy, prophecy, transmutation, etc magic. In the show it's just the baby dragons setting the warlock dude on fire and that's how dany escapes, but in the novels the house of the undying are these "Chronicles of Riddick" style ancient quasi-holy-half-dead spirit things and they get wrecked just the same by baby drogon solo. It also goes in to great detail about how the dragons are the source of fire magic and fire magic trumping everything else and how magic has finally returned to the world, etc etc. instead in the show you just get angry dany "WHERE ARE MY DRAGONS" lol drama.

plenty of evidence that he wights autodie when exposed to fire. Literally every encounter we've seen or read about shows them collapsing into a corpse when touched by flames. a torch, a lantern, fucking anything. fire is their achille's heel.
plenty of evidence that the walkers command the undead, direct them when to fight and which way to go. Not improbable that if they did approach a wall of fire the walkers would be smart enough to command their legions to stop rather than die. Again giving you that one, not sure why you continue to debate against yourself.

He could pull lightning bolts out of his ass. he could teleport to the Marvel universe and steal captain america's shield. he could summon gandalf or the balrog to help him out. he could blah blah blah"
I said "Sure, night king can totally pull something out of his ass and counter the dragons. we're all hoping he does so, we're hoping he has some kind of Deus Ex machina to counter the dragons otherwise the final conflict, whenever the dragons finally take the field, will be very anticlimatic.*

I corrected you again. You admitted that the night king pulling something out of his ass was in fact deus ex machina.
You then pivoted again to try and debate some leet strat the night king could use that wouldn't be deus ex machina and would somehow negate the dragons.
I pointed out how ridiculous this would be since the NK doesn't know what dragons are and isn't clairvoyant, there's no way he would give up his only advantage and only strategy on how to beat the living (massive overwhelming numbers) to avoid an asset he doesn't know he will face. BUT even if he did so, he would then be crushed by the humans alone, they wouldn't even need the dragons.

But that's not the way the story is unfolding. It looks like it's going to be politics politics back stabbing oh noes who sits the throne blah blah blah until its too damn late for any kind of conventional war against the undead. It's looking more and more likely that it's going to be the dragons getting loose and killdozing their way to victory because the humans couldn't get their shit together in time. The way GRRM writes, it's entirely possible the dragons go off and win the war on their own and it's not even explained, there's no one around to tell the story and the whole thing is told from First Person Perspective. It'll just be something that happens in the background and we are stuck reading about jon living in a cave hiding from the undead and cersei's final moments as kings landing burns around her or Arya roaming the country side on horse back fleeing the dead until a shadow washes over her and they all burst to flame and that was that.

how long did robb stark's march to the riverlands lasted? 2 seasons? the time scale and travel distances is all f'ed up in this show. westeros is like 3,000 miles long from dorne to wall and you got guys like hound, brienne, littlefinger, jaime, the fat kid, just traveling halfway across the continent in 2 episodes

Also, what's your definitive source for that? Like, that's a pretty bold claim, especially when he used to be human and has probably been around a long time and maybe has become more powerful because of the dragons. Plus it seems like he has some warging capability or something related to that since he was able to be in Bran's dream and touch him to track him. What else could he know? Is your source "because the show didn't show that to us"?

that's a relatively small fire, not really a wall of fire. Again I'm saying he probably can put out a wall of fire, enough to walk through it, but i was talking more like "line up a bunch of wagons and set them on fire to make a barrier against the undead" not some burning twigs.
about the other thing, the Definitive source is the books and the TV show. We're shown him being made during the war of the children vs the first men. long before there were dragons in Westeros. He was created to fight the men, the children realize that they fucked up, and either they (or he) builds a giant damn wall of ice to keep them stuck up north in the land of always winter. We know he physically cannot pass south of the wall, they aren't seen or heard from (chilling out in the land of always winter, regrouping, reforming, making more walkers) and dragons don't show up to westeros until like 5k years later several epochs after the long night and the original war for the dawn.
There's simply no way he would know about dragons. Unless Araysar calls him on his cell phone to warn them. Which is basically the level of lulz where he is arguing from.
