I saw no foreshadowing in the trailer or the books about Joeffrey / Tywin.

Joeffrey was a dead man walking as soon as the character was introduced, but Tywin really took me by surprise.

True Blood might be the only thing HBO has done that you might argue has gone on too long, but it was pretty much trash from the start so it's not like the quality has really taken a nosedive or anything.

Rome and Deadwood were both incredibly expensive productions. Unless it pulls in ultra ratings and sales (previously True Blood, now GoT), they don't have much incentive to let the show go on for a long time. Low rated stuff like 'Girls' gets to stay on because it probably costs next to nothing to produce and it has been able to generate media buzz.
-shrug- Boardwalk is going 5 seasons and Newsroom will only be 3. They don't keep shit around too long generally.

Yeah I think because in the trailer it shows the dragon's shadow over the kingdom. I'm not really sure what scene that's supposed to be, maybe a flashback? I don't even know.
Mereen and other cities (forget them off the top of my head)? Didn't think it was Westeros, but I could be wrong.

Pretty sure there was a quick clip of the champion battle (not Strong Belwas... sigh).

Ya, I'm pretty sure the dragon flying over the city would be from when Drogon escapes, while Dany is fuddling around in Mereen waiting for the other story arcs to catch up to hers. However, it really does look like the Red Keep at the end of that shot... could be a shot from one of Dany's dreams?

I just re-read ASoS and am mildly surprised they're keeping the champion battle since Strong Belwas isn't in the show. It doesn't look like Daario facing against the champion, but they recast him so it might be.

Right, it was confusing what the dragon was flying over hence people thinking she's coming to westeros.

They should do a character trailer that is just a slow shot of Littlefinger with a bigger smirk than goddamn Bob the Viagra Guy with sounds of screaming, fighting and death and nobody will know wtf it's about until he confesses everything to Sansa at the end of the season. By the end of Storm of Swords he's the only person left who is actually winning the Game unscathed.

Then they could do another trailer with clips of all the dead characters. At the end it's just GRM holding up his middle finger and giggling.

I hope he is wearing a gold glove and they aren't going to do that weird real hand holds the fake hand prop so his arm/wrist looks super long, it is really distracting.
Can't be any worse than the scene where Jaime helps brienne out of the bear pit, only to see him scale the pit wall himself. Meanwhile hes bending his "wrist" of his stump which should be his forearm lol

Both Rome's and Deadwood's sets burned down making them financially unfeasible to continue as the sets would have had to been completely rebuilt. Yes, they were expensive shows, but reconstructing the sets was the nail in the coffin.

Also, with Rome, I believe HBO partnered with BBC who backed out after season 2 (or in the middle of it, I forget).

I never heard that about Deadwood's sets burning. I've read a lot of articles that talk about the internal politics of what went on behind the cancellation and all that, but never the sets burning.

Yeah I was under the impression that Deadwoods producer/creator was only going to be given enough money to do 1 show by HBO, and he chose to go with John From Cincinnati instead of continue Deadwood.

John from Cincinnati was maybe the worst show HBO ever made. Fucking idiot.

Yeah it was. Fuck that show, seriously. I've read some reviews that try and paint it as if we needed distance to fully judge the show. No, it was fucking terribad. And still is.

John From Cincinnati made no goddamn sense. It was like some kind of art school coffeehouse bullshit. The fact that it cost us Deadwood is even worse.

Cocksuckers.
