I don't understand how the gun tracking works when translated to game input. Is it separate from the head tracking?

No idea. The 'proper' way to do it IMO is the way the Quake2 and HL2 mods did it. You could change your camera viewport with your head, and your cursor freely floated in your screen unless you dragged it to the edge.

With a device like this, it makes sense to make your character rotate with your head (since you can move your head by rotating your body) and your gun is a reticle in the center and can't change your character's rotaiton.

Right, the gun reticle would have to be independent of the center of the first person view. I'm not sure how they would get that to work inside of GTA 5 without direct support for that like Star Citizen/ED have.

If you have an old password on your Rockstar account, change it immediately. Mine got hacked but it was a 7 year old password or something so I can't bitch at anyone but me.

Yeah, I just used my old Rockstar account and didn't bother to change the password. It was a pretty weak one and I'm sure it was on some combo list out there, possibly from FOH or some other forum even.

I was going to wait until the price dropped, but you all are making a good case for this. I have two questions though:

What kind of settings can I expect to run it on? i5-3450, HD 7850, 8 gigs RAM.
Am I going to be able to play with keyboard and mouse? Or do I need to invest in a controller?

I use keyboard and mouse, and most people are getting very good performance for the most part. I have like a 770 and a 670, so I have 4 gbs video ram and 16gb of ram so I can't speak to your performance directly, for instance no clue how radeon vs nvidia stacks up, but I don't see why, based on those specs, you'd have any bottlenecks for your performance, unless you only have a gig of ram on that 7850. I imagine its probably 2 gb video ram or better, so you should be fine.

Keyboard + mouse works pretty well, even for driving. The only thing that stands out to me as bad on the keyboard is flying since that uses both WASD and the num pad arrow keys at the same time. That gets a bit awkward. I've been using both a KB/M and controller for playing. KB for walking around and shooting and the controller for vehicles.

Game runs great on normal settings with a GTX 580 (1.5gig card). That said, I did order a GTX 970 because I want to up settings and it was about time to upgrade anyway.

Does the pistol silencer actually do anything? Doesn't seem to make anyone less aware of my pistol shots.

You don't get to add your video rams together. :p

Actually, it does work for some reason. I get 4 gb video ram to utilize.

Still don't know why and I know its not supposed to, but I can take a screen shot and show you that I'm utilizing 3.5 gb of vram in GTAV and get it in other games as well. Both cards are 2gb cards.

added: Mebbe I'm misremembering and the 770 does have 4gb.

I noticed that if you're in a damaged car, you can do a quick save (via cell phone) and reload to that save and your car is fully repaired.

You don't get to add vram together in SLI, GTA 5 just reports it wrong in the menu for some retarded reason. It double both your available vram and the vram it's "using" as you play with sliders.

No, I'm just dumb and misremembering. My 770 has 4gb vram, that's why it shows 4gb vram in GTAV.

My mistake.

No, you can't.You can run PhysX on one and render with the other, but that's a real waste of electricity. No idea what Hodj is doing.
That's what I'm actually doing.

But for some reason I'd convinced myself that both had 2gb vram and were adding them together.

A second time yes, a third time?

I'd have a hard time justifying that, personally speaking.
