Anyone see Rep. Louie Gomert talk about how if only the staff at the school had access to M4s that none of this would have happened? Do people who own guns really believe that they will be Stallone when it comes to situations like this?
don't have to be Rambo. just one armed person hiding behind a desk waiting till the bad guy opens the door ends it.

Or if nothing else, draws the attention of the gunman. Not expecting every CHL holder to be able to fight off a sociopath, but it does change the situation.

people like Tard10 and the NRA do more harm to our fucking right to own and use firearms then all the "left" socialists calling for gun bans.

Would you honestly send your young children to a school where the teachers have M4s?
Where I grew up, every high school had 2-4 cops stationed at it, every junior high had 2 cops, and they had big ass guns, including pistol grip shot guns. That was around 20 years ago. Guns in schools is not a new thing. And giving guns to a principle to sit under his desk is no big deal.

On a slight derail there really is no reason to send your kids to public school anymore, if your a semi responsible parent that is. The rise of charter schools, private schools, and vouchers. It's going to be like segregation except not on racial lines. Kids with parents who care will drive their kids to a safe, good school, that have armed security. The "poor" welfare kids will be getting bussed to a public school, while the parents procreate and buy crack with their EBT cards, not necessarily in that order. Reminds me of a bible verse, "For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away".

It's a good thing you put in those scare quotes. Otherwise people might think there are genuinely poor people in America. You twat.

Reading some of the gaming sites around the web just makes me sad for the younger generation. I hope they realize that once the useless AWB bills go into effect and it doesnt really stop anything, the next target is going to be the violent video games. After that its going to be violent movies, violent cartoons, nerf bats and super soakers. But not once in all of this will anyone do a damn thing about the actual people that do these things. Its not thier fault, its guns/games/movies... Le Sigh...
That's an awfully slippery slope you just slid down.

On that point, the USA has tighter laws on games and movies than most european countries, who have tighter laws on guns. I dont see why increasing regulations on apples means that you also need to increase regulation on oranges.

Joe Scarborough, in a long monologue that echoes Obama's recent speech.

TL;DR - He's changed his views on the 1st and 2nd amendment when it comes to violent movies/games and semi automatic rifles/ high capacity magazines. Something must be done.

/edit Aside. Is there a way to get links to show as page titles, instead of these ugly ass url's, like they did back on the old boards?

Happy being eurotrash.

Can't imagine waking up in the morning and reading 'Should we allow firearms in our schools?'.

Let me ask you: do you let your gf/wife/children go out alone? Without a gun? Shouldn't you be there to protect them from a loon with a gun? Or do you trust random strangers to be packing and not fucking up?
Isn't it really more YOU wanting to pack a gun?

/edit
PS. Also, invest in proper mental health care.

His school consisted of his farm family being armed to keep out black people .

Taking anything Mizzle has to say seriously is one step from a peroxide gargle.

Honestly? If they are properly trained and vetted, why not allow some school administrators to carry guns?

It is a slightly more out there idea, but I just love the smug attitude/tone that is the text book reply to that idea or similar ones. Its more or less "If we let teachers carry guns in school theyre going to pistol whip students!!!!" Also, why is the idea of CCWing in a school bad? Ignoring the knee jerk emotional reaction of gun and school in the same sentence, you do realize people carry concealed every day in places where there are tons of kids, right?

One of the fundamental rules of guns, you dont carry or use one if you are not competent or comfortable handing it. Should everyone carry a firearm? No(you should use what youre comfortable with, whether it be a tazer, mace or a gun), but theres no reason to not let those who are proficient in them carry them.

I've worked in schools. Items are not stored properly, no matter how expensive they are. Having an armed cop on site is one thing, as he has his gun on his person and is responsible for it. But if you start locking guns in a cupboard then it only takes one person to leave the keys laying around, or let the password slip etc and you could end up with a child walking around the school with a loaded gun. Accidents happen.

Sometimes even those trained in gun safety screw up, I'm not sure arming teachers/principals would be a good thing. I didn't have armed security guards at my high school but it was different times back then. Only thing the security guard ever did was try and stop kids from smoking pot on the hill during lunch.

Having the training with firearms doesn't preclude you from being a moron and paying a high price for your stupidity.

This happened locally.

Damned right it is, that's the whole point.

If the country wants 10rnd mag limits, so be it. I will deal with it. For anyone that takes the time to be proficient, the difference between a 30rnd mag and 3 10rnd mags is all of about 2 seconds.

I will be the first to admit that we don't need 30rnd mags, the problem is what happens after the high cap ban doesn't do anything? Ban 10rnd mags? That doesn't work we ban all semi auto pistols? Well I know some guys that can get off 18 shots with a wheel gun faster than a lot of ppl can with an 18rnd mag in a semi.

It's a very slippery slope.

Congratulations, your education system has more in common with Pakistan than the rest of the developed world.

I know a few teachers from high school that carried guns in their cars. Some of them were former military, all of them were former alums that came back to teach. I never felt threatened by them.

On the other hand, our dean of students was a goddamn cunt and on more than one occasion I'm pretty sure it took every fiber of his being not to smack me. If he'd had a gun, I'd have felt threatened.

Point is, teachers/administrators are just like anyone else. It's not possible to do a blanket statement and say every principal should be armed.

I guess I would say let CCW holders do what they are licensed to do. I've never heard of a CCW holder committing a crime with their concealed carry.
