Mainly they space the appointments out, plus the cancer center is a mini hospital so when you go for chemo you get your own little cubby hole. Biggest thing is you can't bring a guest/visitor with you which kinda sucks. Beyond that it's still pretty much the same.

Ok thanks. I did an infusion twice before and they had patients doing chemo but they were in one giant room. I got a little small room big enough for 2-3 people to watch TV in and it's own bathroom, but I went on a Sunday and the rest was pretty empty. Just curious what they were doing with the distancing deal.

Anyone had luck removing earwax deep in the ear canal?

My left ear is super itchy inside and feels blocked up, I'm assuming there's a build up. Was going to put some hydrogen peroxide in there and then in a few days see if I can flush it out.

Only issue is I had a hole.in my ear drum as a kid. They patched the hole with a skin graft, so I think it'll be safe - what do you think?

I haven't had an issue with my ears since that surgery - minus less hearing in my left ear

Grab a ear lavage - you can use a bulb syringe and spray lukewarm water in your ear while keeping head down. Recommend doing this in the shower as earwax looks fucking nasty. Don't spray too hard at first until you get used to it - spray too hard, you could rupture the drum. Don't use cold water, either. That'll fuck up your equilibrium.

Thanks. Just water nothing else?

It's driving me nuts

So bright side to the whole cancer thing is being to help others when they go through this shit. Just learned yesterday a former co-worker was diagnosed with uterine cancer. She a fucking awesome person and I look to her as more of a mentor than co-worker. Hopefully she does ok, fuck cancer.

Well, my dad is having recurring pain in his head and shoulders and mouth the past couple weeks. Him and mom went to urgent care yesterday and they gave him some antibacterial mouthwash, which hasn't done anything yet. Swelling in the gums got worse and he has been up all night. Going to hit up urgent care as soon as they open, and probably look for a dentist nearby too. Him mom died from leukemia, so if this doesn't get better soon we might have to have someone look for head/neck cancers too. Shit sucks.

So had a cyst on my kidney about the size of a large bouncy ball (docs words) removed earlier this month. Got confirmation recently that it was cancer. I'm actually starting to feel a lot better which is cool and hopefully more or less permanent. I'm in my early 30's so presumably have a lot of 'post-cancer' living to do. For those that have done the cancer thing do you have any suggestions for things I should be careful about or conscious of?

Appreciate any advice. Been a fucking brutal 2 years and if I'm being honest I'm kind of glad it was actually something serious. I spent the better part of that 2 years having every doctor tell me I'm totally fine and it was fucking with my head.

No advice other than to try not to focus on it returning. Stay on top of getting CEA blood tests done and pay attention to your body, and just live your life.

What Dom said. Cancer is a bitch, and is known to return. Just see your Dr for the regular check ups and live your life to the fullest. Which is something everyone should do, but it's easy to forget and just let life run on autopilot.

Expecting to get cancer diagnose wednesday.

I've lived well and don't regret anything, but going into what might be the endgame is still something to deal with.

My father had it 3 times and still lived for a decade, so don't cheer to early.

Why are you “expecting” one? And if so, that has to be the most anxiety you’ve ever felt. Even waiting on a standard blood test at my age gives me anxiety, so couldn’t imagine having to dwell/wait for a cancer diagnosis.

Specialist told me I was likely to get vocal chord cancer. Due to covid I didn't go for checks in the last 2 months, and now I have a bump in the area, which seems to grow pretty fast. Noticed it last week, it was present but not an issue, today it is really annoying and constantly present.

If I have to pick between having my vocal chords removed or a a sub-optimal treatment, I've already made my choice.

I try not to worry, because it won't help anyway.

Talk to your doc about anti anxiety meds if you end up having panic attacks.

Pain comes and goes but it gets worse over time. It went from discomfort and annoyance long time ago into pain and now it's moved into "real" pain for lack of a better term.

Edit - to top it off of all things I'm subject to mini panic attacks now.

Most (all?) docs are approved to do telephone/“virtual” visits these days due to COVID if you’d be interested in that.

I don't see how this would qualify as an annual check-up without taking vitals/weight/etc, but I'm going to give it a shot and see if I can fenagle it.

I got threatened with inactive status because I haven't been since 2016, I swore off doctors visits and hospital, but now with tele-medicine available for other things I might be able to squeeze an official checkup out of it.

I had to get my heart medication prescription to lower heart rate extended. Did a virtual appointment. Worked out ok I guess as long as you had all the stuff they wanted you to use. I did. Way to check blood pressure, heart rate, and they wanted my blood sugar.

Another with my endocrinologist which is super easy. My continuous blood glucose monitor I just upload it and it goes right to her office. 5 minutes tops for the whole visit.

Two days this week when outside all of a sudden my vision got super bright and stayed that way for a couple minutes. This was accompanied by feeling a little woozy. Not sure what to make of this
