a little while ago, was listening to a youtube vid, guy talked about mouthwash could lead to diabetes. looks like it was from just a couple of studies, something like in 1000 obese people aged 40-65, those that used mouthwash twice a day had a 55% increase in diabetes. also saw alcohol based mouthwashes can kill good micro stuff that could lead to high bp. really don't know, but was reading here and thought might as well post it, if at risk, might be something to look into or ask about. anyway, seems like current guideline is to use alcohol-free, no more than once a day, along with brushing.
my use of mouthwash is very limited, had a bad reaction to one brand when i was a teen and never been a regular user after that.
Proper mouth microbiome is probably underestimated. They try to sell you cleaning the tooth as a fix, but you're really just throwing the dust under the carpet and not fixing the issue, which usually is proper mouth bacteria need a somewhat basic mouth, which is going to be fucked up by sugar.

A better fix is probably getting some pH 9 water to drink before bed or to rince your mouth after eating. You probably don't want to drink it when you eat as you want your stomach to be acid during digestion.

Bonus it helps with lpr.

My BMI is under 30 and my blood sugar is well controlled, haha. Not sure if there's a misconception there about me or whatever.

I've been diabetic for almost 20 years. Just kinda tired of taking meds.

And with being 20 years diabetic, retinopathy wasnt exactly out of the realm of possible. One year my eyes were fine and the next the doctor raised the alarm.

Do you still need the meds?

The blood sugar control is what the GLP-1's do about 10x better than metformin. If metformin is advil then Ozempic is like hydrocodone (for pain, it's not addictive). If you're having any retinopathy or hands/feet tingling or anything like that then you'd probably benefit greatly from these things.

Yeah I'll talk to my doctor about it in my yearly. It was already on my plans.

I'm convinced they’re both a cause of the same problem and therefore cleaning won’t help your heart. Specifically, too much sugar which cause acidity in your mouth which cause tartar on the teeth and also cause inflamation of the vascular system.

Reestablishing proper pH with gargling baking soda before sleeping or drinking pH 9 water before bed would probably help more your overall microbiome than deep cleaning which is just going to hide the problem but will absolutely not fix the root cause.

Of course, the best is to eat less sugar.
Im starting a two week keto run today to see what happens.

my heart palpitations suddenly stopped this past Monday afternoon. I think, THINK I know what’s been causing all this:

I forgot to take my heartburn medicine this past Monday, the medicine is pantoprozole aka Protonix. Doing a little digging, I found this:

It just so happens, I had just started taking the drug for several months before the heart issues started. I don’t know if it’s certain, but the fact the palpitations have gone away by stopping a medication as opposed to adding one must mean something.

bought some magnesium supplements to get my levels back to normal(theoretically), in the meantime I added avocado to my keto plan

Key note if taking a magnesium supplement, if you have a low resting heart rate be careful! They are a low tier beta blocker, which can cause your heart rate to drop.

I’ll have to bear that in mind: I’m already on metoprolol

lowest my HR has ever gone was around 42

I have to watch things because my cardiologist is all kinds of cautious on me because my resting heart rate is around 52-55, and it dips to the low 40's when I sleep. It's why I wear a "smart watch". Been told if I ever see a number starting with a 3 we have to have a pacemaker talk.

To clarify, I prob will only take a supplement once a day to get to normal levels(in the hope deficiency has been the issue)

Just having a low heart rate doesn't mean anything, it's when the heart doesn't maintain pace or goes into afib that you need a pacemaker, or doesn't respond to exercise.

If you go for a quick jog does your HR elevate normally? Are you having any syncope or dizziness/light headedness issues at rest (suggesting your HR is too low for your activity level) ?

His take on it (my cardiologist) was essentially... "This would be a great heart rate if you were a regular runner and in great shape.... we both know how much you weigh..." So it was something to watch. Never had Afib, although oddly my watch also checks for signs of that too.

Only time I've ever had a real "light headed" issue was around 6-7 years ago when I was loading a ton of large pavers into my yard to do some stuff and had a "You're gonna need to sit your ass down right now or you're gonna tump over" moment with my brain. But had multiple checks since. Was on the twice a year rotation with the cardio doc, and 2 years ago went back to the once a year rotation.

Try to fix your heartburn problem in another way, ppi is by design fucking up your digestive system. Stomach is meant to be acid, if not acid enough digestion will no happen properly resulting in suboptimal nutrient absorption.

Who the fuck is still prescribing that shit long term?
