I’m going to try going back to baking soda water for curbing acidity.

other updates, after about a week of stopping the PPI, the palpitations have been reduced by about 95%. But I had more frequent AFIB at night. This could be because stomach acid/gas getting too high again. I had half a tsp of baking soda water last night and didn’t have AFIB for the first night in awhile. I hope that’s a good sign.

Baking soda is bad for GERD, gargling baking soda, even washing your nose with it helps with LPR, as it deactivate stomach enzyme that are eating up your throat,.but again reducing stomach acid should be only if everything else failed.

Try gaviscon, it’s got pretty much the same success rate as ppi for gerd, especialy if you're not retarded, it is slightly harder to use, but has no significant side effect, even long term.

You have to use it after meals,.and not take anything, liquid or solid,.after taking it. Let the gravity do its job, and try to get some of its assistance at night, sleeping with a slight slope. And use 1 or even 2 gavison before going to bed.

Pretty cool stuff to understand how it works :

This might sound weird, but if you're accustomed to drinking fluids while you eat, try not drinking anything until 15 minutes after you eat something so your stomach acids won't be diluted and will do their job better. I found this helped me a lot with heartburn, although i still have occassional flare ups. Cutting out most bread and especially enriched flour made a massive difference too, I take a PPI sometimes but it's like ~1 a month now on average and only if i've still got heartburn near bedtime.
