I started off playing Raynor a lot and still love playing him. Just started using Diablo a lot more and I love trapping people behind towers and walls with overpower in early game, late game he can be beast mode. Only gripe I have so far is the gold grind. Loving the game so far though.

Overall the gamedesign as the mariokart of mobas is interesting. bigger emphasis on pve elements in the game.

It is the most arbitrary, meaningless and tedious part of the game. Talent gating fucking sucks I wish they'd just remove it already instead of forcing me to spend 30m-1h of my life unlocking a hero I already paid for to play proper.

Yes they should just remove talent gating. Their reasoning for it doesn't even make any sense in the grand scheme of things. Trying to make a character easier to play for a new person and having that same system be a hindrance to people who know what they are doing isn't very good game design honestly. If they want to leave this crap in they can just do it differently and make a check box to opt out of it and have all talents unlocked immediately.

yeah. Im sure its only in the game atm, as they want SOME kind of progression, but are kindof at a blank for what to put in. They took artifacts out for the same exact reason.

The main problem with it is matchmaking. the playerbase is too small, and matchmaking is not robust enough to make sure new players using new characters only play with other new players.
It will always be a problem granted.
As a level 50 player or whatever it goes to, playing a level 1 champ will still be locked to those few talents. should that player be matchmade with other level 50 players, or level 1 player using level 1 champs?

Level 4 or below champs should be locked out of ranked. dunno if they are.

I read an article about theoretical playerbase required to have a good matchmaking system and it was something like 150k ensures you can reliably and quickly match similar skilled players together if the game is 5v5. I imagine even at peak this game sees maybe, MAYBE 30k concurrent users.

got my invite a few days ago added everyone looking for people to play with teck#1602 add me, so far the games I put in game feel really fun does not seem deep at all felt very battle ground esque like a WoW BG, where I would que up with others and depending on how they spec'd determined the game. (if you got all pallys and they were all ret, and you had no healers etc) ive only played support so far and have always built deep into heavy support skills like reduced mana etc etc.

im digging it.

rheagar feels like im playing a healing shaman from WoW.

is there a basic like kinda guide, on shit like douublon coins and the different objectives, I know theres diff merc camps than like giant golems and such.

doublons get you cannon balls or something right? think that's what I got when I handed mine in.

There's 5 maps

- Haunted Mines: There's 100 skulls to gather in mines periodically. The amount of skulls your team gets determines how strong a golem is.
- Cursed Hollow: Tribute appears and your teams needs to get it. When a team gets 3, the other team gets cursed (minions are 1 hp, towers dont fire)
- Garden of Terror: At night, seeds spawn. Collect 100 seeds and you can unleash a giant flower golem
- Dragon Shire: Every few minutes, towers at top and bottom become active. If your team controls both, you can unleash a dragonknight in the middle
- Blackheart's Bay: Gather coins from chest, golems, camps. Turn them in to the pirate and if you have enough, he'll bomb the other teams fortifications

game is pretty fun gotta say, does not seem like a whole lot of depth but, for just pick up and play im having fun with it.

I just wish the free selection was better randomized, like this week kinda sucks imo 2 melee warriors, 1 ranged ass, and then the 2 supports ( ranged/melee) so by the end of the week im really itching for a new line up.

I really have no interest to play melee because if its anything like other mobas (probably isn't) anything melee is just putting yourself in the way of danger and without good support you are worthless, cant depend on others to play support so I either do it, or ill play a ranged assassin because at least im ranged and not really relying on the support of my team.

I haven't been playing this much recently since WoW came out but apparently Muradin's HP regen is bugged where it is 21.7 instead of 2.17 which is what it is supposed to be

I only played a handful of games over the weekend, but not seeing muradin in any of them should really tell you the hero needs tweaking if he's broken and still no one is playing him.

I got an invite for this right before WoD launched, which was shitty because I was really excited to try it and I have put in like no time. Hopefully I can try some games and get some folks added over the holiday.

So there was an interview with Blizz about HotS and it all sounds pretty good except their complete ignorance (or just brushing it off) about gold gain, stimpacks, and the price of pretty much everything. I enjoy the game and the possibilities it has but if they can't fix the totally broken prices and gold gain I couldn't possibly support the game. I hate on Riot pretty hard for what I think is a very shitty business model and while I love pretty much all the Blizzard IPs I can't just think the business model is good because its a company I like.

What don't you like about it? That you can't get things as fast as you want or what? Just curious since they have a free rotation like league so you will eventually get enough gold to buy what you want. Do I think it is a little slow? Perhaps but my view may be skewed since I play it casually. The only thing I really dislike is the gated talents.

I could probably write paragraphs about my problem with the shop and prices, but I'll just say the math was done (which of course I can't find the posts atm) and it would take hundreds of days to unlock all the heroes with gold. If I remember correctly it would take around the same time to do it in League and it has like 3x more champs than HotS. No idea how that seems like a good business model.

Not to mention the math was done on how the stimpacks work and you'd have to play a lot of games to make buying a stimpack worth it for the gold portion, otherwise it would be better to just buy heroes with $$. I guess if you were just using stimpacks for exp and to buy things that require only gold like the money pig than maybe it would be worth it.

Edit: I don't think this is the one I saw before but it shows what I was trying to get it. Looks up to date.

Assumptions: 50% winrate, completing every single daily during period of 4 months (120 days). 25 average minutes per game with core shield patch.

217,000 - 6,000 - 16,000 = (600days) + 20games/2 + 30games/2
195,000 - 72,000 = (games/2)(20 + 30)
2(123,000/50) = games
games = 4,920

4,920 games / 120 days = 41 games / day
hours = (41 games * 25 minutes/game) * (1/60 hour/minutes)
hours = 17 hours / day

Want to unlock every hero with current prices (no skins, no mounts)? Just play 41 games/day (~17 hours a day) while completing all your dailies for four months straight! Don't buy a skin, that'll set you back quite a lot. Because skins cost as much as heroes.

I've said it before, but clearly the gold prices are too high. It's not too difficult to save up to buy a couple of the heroes you really like though. The level 10 skin should be free also. I usually just play pick up games and I think it took me like 80+ games to get 10. For that amount of time spent, they should throw in something. Would be nice to tell if the people on your team know what they are doing also.
