The greatest thing about thosr pre 2000s films are so few sequels/remakes compared to original films.

There are a couple good years during the 70s too. I think 77 was pretty big along with 75

1994 was great but 1999 wins. The Matrix being the best movie of all time cancels out Starwars being the worst. Now had fight club been the only other movie to come out in all of 1999 it still would have taken the title as best movie year of all time.
