Yeah it was in my driveway for 3 days before a friend convinced me to put it in his garage. They don't know my address, but they know my name, and I can be pretty sure I'm the only guy in town with my name, so who knows if they could find it online? And yeah, I just googled my name + town and fucking third result has the street I live on listed and says for 9.99 they can get my address, so its very possible for them to get an address if they try. So thats not great.

The guy at Titlemax just called me 20 minutes ago to see if I had any updates as she has not answered any of his calls. I told him the boyfriend wanted me to go up there but I passed. His response was "Yeah, I wouldn't do that, the reason they took a lien out was to get him out of jail, he's an ex-felon and had gotten picked up on something. She's an escort I'm pretty sure, her employer is listed as some private dance service, so these are probably not people you want to meet up with. I feel really bad for you man, if you need anything, just let us know."

Also I have no clue what this text is supposed to mean, he just sent it to me, the boyfriend that is - "I don't need to know nothing about that I have corrected your screw up's. My job will soon be done." Which sort of makes me paranoid as shit, I'm debating running to Walmart fast and picking up a shotgun just in case... Ominous shit.

Nah, even though my theory was wrong, these peeps sound a whole lot more stupid than onoes. Wanting the plates makes no sense really. Why would they report the car stolen while in possession of the plates?

Cops? Yeah, some creepy ass cracker just stole my car but left the plates? Oh, and that video at titlemax is a fake.

I'm no expert on "grifts", but I'm having a real hard time finding the logic in their actions. I can understand onoes actions (not smart but I understand his motivations and actions), but not the guidos. they took out a lien to get him out of jail and now sell the car to pay off the lean, so wtf are they trying to do now, especially if the guido doesn't want attention from the law?

They could've just needed the money so they sold the car but now they're greedy and think they can get the car back by pressuring him. There could be unknown complications with the title that prevent them from being able to give it to him.

That text he just got could be a missend. Sounds like he's telling his girlfriend he doesn't need to know about something (possibly paranoid about talking about illegal things through texts, for instance) and then telling her he's fixed what she's screwed up, and that now soon he won't have to deal with the situation anymore.

But maybe I'm just overthinking it.

I'm with Tuco. It sounds like a very simply scam and they were just hoping to scare someone into giving the car back. Now it's not working out and they don't know what to do. Kinda like a PG version of Fargo.

Yeah, I'm heading out in the morning with the family to go camping for the weekend, so either way, probably not much going on until then. My wife did find the girls facebook, which is wide open to everyone. She's got pictures of her new car, a mustang, and talks about how much she likes it. She also has pictures of her boyfriend, which include his full name, and it seems they have been dating for 2 WHOLE MONTHS. He also has a facebook, but it's behind closed doors.

Now, googling his name with arrest gives his backstory. In Jan he was arrested for speeding, found in possession with intend to distribute. It doesn't say how much or what, but he has several charges and next to each one is "bail $5000, bail $10,000, bail $5,000". On July 13th he was arrested again, this time with the following charges - Failure to yield\lamp\signal\arm(?), No proof of insurance, Harassment, Assault. So, looks like he got pulled over on some little thing and threw a fit about it.

All of that was bailed as well, which explains why the title guy said they put a lien on the car to get him back out. So yeah. I don't want to link all this shit right now in the middle of whatever is going on, but after, full disclosure!
