Little bit of a PITA but you can invest in ARKVX and you love cathy. SpaceX, OpenAI, X AI neuralink anthropic. Access to a lot of the names people feel left out of which is probably all your rich friend is doing. Some of the brokerages have closed funds that us poor people aren't given access to, but very very few are being given direct share access but you really don't want to look at the management fees.
No. He is in via the various fund raise rounds. His wealth advisor gets him in. He isnt buying an ETF to get his position.

I usually spend a few minutes per post of his trying to google and figure out what he's talking about, but generally learn a new word or concept here and there. I'm not ashamed to admit half the time I have no idea what he's talking about.
There's a guy on another forum who runs the institutional investment side of his company's business. He linked a video talking about something new he was doing, and I didn't understand a single word of it. IIRC MIT math grad.

Some people are swimming in the deep deep end of the pool.

Spot on a troy unce of silver is around what a barrel of crude oil is now, both up and down at times obviously.

TSLA close to all time highs, wonder if it can go higher without a catalyst and earnings aren't till end of Jan

Yeah thinking of selling some. Long term very bullish on Tesla due to robotaxi and especially Optimus, but its going to be so long before either of those really start affecting the top line I think, and its bumped down off of these 460ish levels multiple times before. I want to be in it, but wondering if its prudent to sell some and buy back in more later at lower levels.

Have you thought about selling covered calls?

Not quite enough shares for covered calls.

I've also noticed looking at the chart 4 out of the last 5 years, March/April has been an optimal buying time for Tesla where it dips from winter into spring. Probably just coincidence, and 2022 didn't follow the trend.

Believe they (SpaceX) only have a few hundred direct owners outside of employees, you hobnobbing with billionaires?

I made it to the last round of interviews at SpaceX 3 years ago. They paid well below what equivalent employers were paying for my position, and they were the only ones requiring all 5 days per week in office. BUT- the position came with a very generous offer of SpaceX shares, and that alone kept me interested.

Well , let's also look at the big picture of what they did...

They are trying to sell what should be a moderately popular EV small SUV/Crossover type vehicle. But they slap it under their flagship sports/muscle car logo. Problems with that?
  1. Non sports car enthusiasts don't want a "Mustang" because it's a sports car name associated mostly with wreckless youth and has bad PR with that crowd, yet they are the primary audience who would benefit from this vehicle.
  2. Mustang enthusiasts (Full disclosure, I have owned a 66 and 2010 Mustang and have a nostalgic attachment from owning a 66 back when I was 18 and was a "wreckless youth") take one look at that body style and immediately Nope right on out with the most elaborate commentary I have seen on it being "You're no son of mine".
Then they wonder why what should be a moderately popular EV can't get a foothold in the market.
