Some people's most valuable contribution to society is being a warning to others what not to do. Is showing them on TV exploitative? That depends if you think these people should be allowed to make their own decisions or not, even if they are stupid. I think neck/face tattoos are stupid and self-destructive but does that make a tattoo artist that puts one on a willing, adult customer a psychopath?

Prisons are full of stupid people because we still hold them accountable for their own actions despite being stupid. They can't help being stupid either.

It was mutual exploitation, aka commerce. The scum wanted to be on TV. Jerry wanted the ratings.

Emphasis on *self* destructive. I am all for letting shit tier people destroy themselves if they want to. That's part of respecting personal rights at the end of the day. We just need to remember to hold them accountable for their stupidity as well by shunning them and never bailing them out.

That's giving Springer too much credit, or letting Tiktok off lightly. Tiktok is far worse for the collective psyche of the US population.

Springer seems more akin to Kardashians in terms of impact. Trashy entertainment for trashy people that encouraged trashy behavior in society as being acceptable.
