Today I met the Watcher

Every new fight so far in KD:M had been a nail biting spectacular showdown. But the Watcher ate his socks after drawing one measly AI card, getting destroyed almost single-handedly by my Twilight Knight. I guess it's fitting since he's the son of an ageless survivor that came from another village (thank you Clinging Mists) who gave him 3 points of Twilight Mastery before heading off, never to be seen again. After the fight I checked the AI cards and I guess the Watcher could have eaten me up pretty quickly though.

Now on to the Gold Smoke Knight... just checking his stat line, no idea how I will beat him. Guess I have ten years to find out.

Yea, as someone that took 4 tries (I think? It's been a while) to get him a single time, and failed at least once afterward again - I do find that a bit hard to believe, although that said I don't think I've gotten that Mastery done either. (In fact I don't recall ever getting one, but I'm a bit rusty on KDM at this point, had no time for it in a bit unfortunately)

The Twilight Sword when at six specialization points gets speed 3 and Deadly, plus is Devastating 2 against the Watcher, that's a potential of 9 wounds in a round and pretty much what happened in my fight. You could say that with that and the Cat Eye Circlet, I was ready! The Clinging Mist event played a huge part in my game. I ended back at year 1 with 4 complete armor sets, a Twilight user, lots of great weapons plus a bonanza of resources from depleting the Antelope's deck that year. Totally a game changer.

Oh geez - I'm rusty to the point I didn't realize Clinging was the NG+ event - only bumped into it once when it was basically irrelevant

Man those are some nice looking survivors. I'll try to follow that tutorial when I find the time to paint KD:M.

We decided to resist The Hand tonight when he first showed up, so we didn’t lose all of our resources.

Boy did we get raped. We did figure out that the best way to kill him would be to use a cat eye to find his golden codpiece though. We decided to go after a lvl 2 lion to hope for a cat eye, as we haven’t ever found one before but it was our only shot before the Hand shows up again the following year. We got lucky and found one! Now just hope it works :p we lost a survivor during the lion hunt, and my favorite survivor lost a leg :(. Man we were pretty beat down after tonight’s session. Good times!

Finally got back to this after 5 weeks of being too busy. Played the Phoenix for the first time tonight.

Was a pretty scary fight, went in knowing nothing so had my best and very old survivor, the time shit was like omfg no! But we were fairly lucky with the Hit Locations, the trap was far enough down we never got it. Ended up kicking his ass, and got a ton of resources from crits. The rewind mechanic had us shitting our pants though, couldn’t fucking hurt him for a bit.

I did see one card he has resets your entire campaign except survivors and gear. As fun as new game+ sounds I think we’d have to cheat and not do it. We don’t play enough to erase 40 hours of gameplay, it’s a funny card, but damn.

Got another figure done recently too.

Haven’t played in several weeks, friend and I are so busy in the summer. I think we are in year 19 or so, anxious to finish it so we can do gloomhaven.

A few shots of figures I’ve finished.

I was at year 9 with my first group when we had a bit of bad luck, and the other guy playing freaked the fuck out, just a duper super bad sport. Since both other players were girls who just weren't that into it either I suggested maybe we play other games when we get together for a while. That was probably 2 months ago. The last 2 Fridays I've played with 3 different people and holy shit is it better. We have been fucked by the dice so many times, and the group just laughs and rolls with it. It's a night and day difference. I'm super excited about the game again, hooray!

I could definitely see this happening with the wrong people. My friend I’ve been playing with, he had a freak out moment on one of our rough nights but eventually calmed down, by the end of the night we were both kind of down. The next session we just raped everything, and I think it sunk in that the randomness is just part of the experience. We’ve been having a great time on good times and bad now.

This is true of all board games, just recently I had to tell a decent friend we aren't doing board games anymore because he ruins the point of it all. He got all pissy and now we don't talk, too old for that stuff.

My dad had a great group of WW2 gamers he played with a ton, Advanced Squad Leader. They had one guy that no matter what, if he was losing he would bitch and main amd acuse people of cheating...even when it was something like rolling dice, it was ridiculous. When he was winning he was very gloating. My dad finally just told them he isn’t joining anymore if that dude was there.

They chose my dad.

We’re getting close to the watcher, after over a year of playing. We rotate other games in a lot, don’t fully play KDM. In the middle of painting the Phoenix right now.

Finished my Phoenix. Took a long time because I got burnt out on it midway through, didn’t get back to it for months.
