I think at this point, He-Man simply fighting Skeletor accomplishes both.

Just got back from watching it. It was good. Had some adult sex humor in it, got me to laugh quite a few times. The CGI was good, the fights were good. Very Star Wars-ish, moreso than I remember from the cartoons when I was a kid. The woke stuff wasn't too in your face, more kind of just there's more to being a man than brute strength and aggression. Do I need to hear that message? No, because it's common sense, but at least it was done toned down, especially for what we get in modern movies. Overall, this was much better than I expected, and they set up a sequel with the multiple credit scenes. I hope it makes enough money to get there, probably won't though unless word of mouth really gets this thing going.

You’re supposed to bring your 7 year old to this and bond over something he finds awesome and you find tolerable. No way did they actually try to make a fucking He-Man movie a grown ass adult would enjoy.

I'm watching the RLM review of it now, and it kind of hit me that really He-Man is a property for people 50+ at this point. I vaguely remember He-Man, but I don't know that I was ever really into it. I'm just not quite old enough. If you were the target demographic for this in 1983-84, you were probably born around 1973-76. Yeah, maybe re-runs would hook people a little younger, but it seems like even 45 year olds is pushing it.

He-Man is firmly in the middle of Gen X. Even the younger Gen X'ers are probably too young for He-Man to really have been a major thing.

I would love an Origin story, taken seriously, movie. Give me a Lord of the Rings quality film and it would fucking rock.

It's not like a must-have. I'm just saying if you ARE going to do a He-Man movie, it's been so fucking long that you've got to put something into it if you're going to attract a new crowd (kids of folks my age, for example), along with people like me. What we're seeing with the "Let's resurrect the dead" initiatives is almost-zero effort, or worse, let's just destroy it completely. (Like the Kevin Smith treatment).

Either really go for it, or don't waste the money.

I'm younger than 45 and I was obsessed, but I'm likely an outlier.

I'm 41 and I very, very vaguely remember being into it as a kid. I have a couple vivid memories of my Great Grandma taking me to the local drugstore to get a few toys. But outside of that, I think I best know He-Man for this..

There is no targeted demographic for this movie. It's definitely not aimed at kids. It's also not not for kids, but the dude's a kid for the intro and that's it. Then it's a movie about a 30 year old dealing with life kicking him in the nuts. I'm 47, grew up on the cartoons, had the toys. I don't even know if the movie was aimed at me, nothing about what I remembered was really in this movie, not that I remember a ton. But this was very Star Wars Return of the Jedi like vibes to me sans the ewoks. There's nothing in this for kids except maybe the talking cat, and he gets 3 minutes of screen time.

It's just a good movie though. Like adult humor. Good action. The actors were fine. The main theme is just that you are going to fail in life and you need to be able to get back up on your feet when you do. I feel like it's aimed at young adults in the 25-35 range, but they don't really have a connection to He-Man. So, no idea how you get that crowd to come watch this thing outside of word of mouth being positive. It's probably going to bomb financially, but do well on streaming when people give it a chance.
