That Cueto guy can pitch.

Cueto is the first major league pitcher to go at least seven innings and allow two or fewer runs in each of his first nine starts since the Philadelphia Athletics' Harry Krause in 1909
Sheeeiit. Only 10 earned runs in 72 IP. Yes. SEVENTY-TWO!

Prince Fielder needs neck surgery, probably out the rest of the season.
Perez needs TJ surgery, Harrison needs back surgery and might not ever play again, Profar is likely going to be out the rest of the season, Holland is still recovering. Darvish is literally the only bright spot on this team right now. It's like the Cowboys' injury problems from last year walked across the street to the Ballpark. Guess we get to see how deep their farm system really is.

Thing is, there are plenty of other teams having far worse injury issues than the Rangers this year. Having that many people out for the season may have them catch up, but the White Sox, Padres and Reds have been decimated. I believe the Reds and White Sox have already accumulated 500 missed games on the season.

Not saying they're a special snowflake in that regard, just that the names involved are a big deal. A very high number of baseball talking heads thought the Rangers came out worse after the Kinsler<-> Fielder trade and now not only is Fielder done but a large reason they made the trade was to slot in Profar at 2B and now he's pretty much out for the year too. It's more ammunition for the gun.

So not only does Oakland have the best record in baseball, but their +96 run differential is double the next closest team (Colorado).

Oakland is playing outta this world right now. Really the only bad thing about the team is the bullpen. Oakland spent an uncharacteristically large amount of money on Jim Johnson to be the closer and the dude has sucked balls this year. Plus, they don't have anyone who can inherit a poor situation and come out unscathed. The bullpen is giving up inherited runners often - and there have been quite a few blown saves. The offense, defense and starting pitching is playing at a high level right now and more than makes up for it though. When they lose, it's 3-2 or something (fucking King Felix), but they win plenty of games 10-1. Even the 7-9 spots have been hitting well.

Also, they're oddly playing way better on the road than at home right now.
