I think Felix is the only MLBer off those posted off the list earning his keep currently.

Cano did alright last year but is stumbling out the gate this year, despite the

Uh, Greinke is 5-1 with a 1.52 ERA. I would say he is pulling his weight. His loss was giving up 1 earned run over 6 innings

No, you are right, I kind of glossed over him I guess. I mean, he isn't pulling Felix numbers but you can't call his contract a bust like the rest of his list.

Prince is leading the AL in batting average, too. Most of the Rangers lineup is sucking but Prince has been great all year.
I'm not looking at just this year when it comes to these contracts, and I wouldn't call his year "great." You factor out the money he is getting paid, sure he is having a fine year. But if you look at what he is getting paid vs total production (offense and defense) it is pretty easy to show he is overpaid and it is not a stretch to call him,on that contract,a bust. The dude is 87th overall in WAR for 2015 position players...

I mean he isn't striking out as many as Felix, but he gives up less runs. Which is ultimately what matters.

How many runs "a pitcher gives up" is a team stat, not an individual one.

*edit: Also Felix pitches in the AL with a DH.

I think we'll know if Houston is for real after this weekend. Going to Detroit for a 4 game series and Keuchel pitched yesterday, plus Cabrera's career average/obp/slugging % vs this pitching staff is .370/.423/.713. They are leading the league in homers/steals, but also last in batting average.

I'm ecstatic they're in first place, but a lot of that has been playing this piss-awful division (70% of their games).

I guess if nothing else, this will give the announcers ample opportunity for "Houston was stupid for letting J.D. Martinez go for nothing" conversation.

It's barely a team stat, to the same degre that BAA is. Strikeouts are more of an individual stat, but it isn't always indicative of performance

Harper too good, valuable to feud with umps | nationals.com

Not quite what I'm referring to. He argues with the umps frequently and has caused the benches to clear at least once in the past. This is baseball, not wrestling.
Watching what happened last night, he shouldn't have been ejected. Was a terrible call by the ump on the pitch, and then compounded when he decided to toss a player for not being in the batters box when he (the ump) was busy jawing with the dugout and not in a position to play ball anyways. I understand tossing someone for disrupting the game, but Harper didn't in any way do that.

No joke, terrible call. I'm not defending him or against him, but Harper is mouthy.

Anyone see Bumgarner's homer off of Kershaw? I need to watch more NL. Seeing the pitchers bat is awesome.

I went to the Mets game on Wednesday and I saw Colon get a hit. The ball didn't even leave the batter's circle. Shit was dope. Mets still lost 9-0, but at least I got to see that.

If Lorenzo Cain(Royals CF) were an entire MLB team by himself, he would be the 5th highest team in defensive runs saved, and the Cain-less Royals would still be 1st.

Cain has 13 defensive runs saved by himself, only 4 teams have more. (Royals have 26 not counting Cain, Blue Jays are 2nd at 23)

I dont get all the "he shouldnt have tossed Harper out" ..I saw what happen, you cant provoke the umpire like that. And regardless if people dont pay to see the umpire play quote from him he needs to be reminded that no one, and I mean not one player is above the game.

Sure it was a ball called a strike but that shit happens countless times a game. The smart players learn the strike zone and adjust not talk shit or act like a baby.

I don't think I've ever seen a team improve offensively as much between seasons as the royals have without bringing in a bunch of new talent. It's insane what they have done. Will be nice when Rios is back (assuming his production stays up) so they can drop Dyson out of the every day lineup. The next step is dropping infante and then we got ourselves a team

What exactly was he doing when he got ejected?

We will never know exactly what he said to the ump that led to the toss but Umps typically give warnings before ejecting a batter in the box. After Williams started yapping Harper kept stepping out of the box from what I read from the reports while the ump was telling him to get back in as in he was intentionally delaying the game, of course this is happening the entire time Williams is yelling from the dugout, bottom line is, and everyone know's this, you cant argue balls and strikes. Harper needs to take some responsibility here is all. Sure the ump blew the strike call but that's been going on for 140+ years. It wasnt even a strike 3 call.
