I picked a low pop server on WoW, won't be doing that again. I used to pick based on server name, but now I'm one of those people that goes straight for the highest pop server available.
As for class, I can't decide. I like cleric, but I'm worried about the lack of haste, slow, sow, ports, thorns and all the other cool or useful stuff. Is rez really important enough to justify missing out on all those things if the other two healers can heal almost as well for 99% of content? The HP buff is not impressive to me. Most people will probably know a cleric they can summon to help them anyway, or have a paladin and just take the exp loss if nothing else. I've also seen people upset about their proc based damage saying it's far too high, so it might get nerfed. The way I see it is the damage is necessary to make up for the lack of utility, but I think a lot of people feel like rez is so important it counteracts being useful in other ways, which I disagree with because it's such a niche spell when everyone knows the world better as deaths come much less frequently. You might only get to rez once every couple of days. Maybe I'm underselling it, who knows.
Shaman seems like the class everyone is recommending for heals since they seem to get it all except ports and they can heal almost as well as cleric. I'm not much of a number cruncher, but haste (and dots if needed) probably help more for the party DPS than the cleric dps boost does, but I could be wrong, and slow is probably more useful to survival than most of the extra stuff in the cleric's toolkit. People say the Shaman can solo, but I'm a bit worried on this aspect. Druid is a mixed bag, but they have a lot of cool utility, SoW, ports, amazing leveling helper buff in thorns. Porting and SoW alone seem worth their weight in gold in this world. With how big the zones are, I can only imagine how much it will help in the longrun. Then there's bard. People seem to be liking the bard changes, and I feel like I might enjoy it as a support class.
Somehow I have to decide between cleric, shaman, druid or bard in under a week. It's good to have choices, so I should probably be happy about it.
Start them all and figure out which you like more. They are all great but play different, it's why I spent the entirety of my play time figuring out what I liked the most.
