Imagine a company making the decision to have 30% of the screenshots, videos, and streams released for their game during daylight be intentionally blurry? Marketing fucking disaster.

Not gonna happen. Not worth discussing.
They would have to have marketing to have a marketing disaster. Their whales are all locked in until reality sets in.

Let's go with the assumption it functions the same as night blindness. There were in-game work arounds for night blindness: lamps, torches, fire beetle eyes, etc. What is the in-game work around for day blindness??

I'm going off of what it says, and personally I'm going to wager "very hard to see"

So a half-baked unfun game mechanic. Sounds like just your type of trash. We'll be looking forward to you coming back to these forums with the "NEXT ONE WILL DO IT RIGHT" posts 6 months after release....

The smart thing is tying a statistical cost to choosing Ultravision. If you wanna take the carebear vision that blunts the risk of the world and takes away from the developer’s atmospheric intent, thats fine, but you don’t get to min/max.

‘Light sensitivity’ should be like -2% chance to melee hit or +5% spell casting time during the daylight hours. Not some absurd visual effect that makes the game look worse when the sun is up.

Or use the actual work around and turn your gamma up a notch and you need none of that to completely negate night blindness. I would imagine turning your gamma down will help with day blindness.
TLDR: don't want to be blind? Take 3 seconds to turn your gamma up and go back to enjoying the game.

That's mostly true but it does depend on the zone. Fallen Pass is very dark, even with max gamma, and Wyrmsbane is still near impossible to see in at max gamma. On the opposite end, Glassflats is almost bright enough that you don't even need to mess with the gamma slider.

Either the last open test or the test before that, they reduced the effect of the gamma slider to placate the EQ fanboi complainers (probably). So I eventually got lazy and played at max gamma the whole time, instead of adjusting it every day/night cycle.

If the choice is messing with a slider every 20 min, having the game look worse in the day, or not playing when it's night time, then I choose a worse looking game during the day.

I did try out the lighting system when I leveled up a rogue/cleric duo in Wyrmsbane, with a lantern. Running back to town to load up on oil was a nuisance interruption to the grind, for such a close area to a vendor (not to mention the cost in weight/inventory space). If instead I had to use a lamp in say Shallow Shoals and run halfway across the map for a 40 minute round trip... yeah, fuck that noise, the game can look like shit (as long as I can mostly see the shit) for half the play time over going through all that.

They need to make more adjustments then if people are by passing night blindness with gamma.

So the solution to a core gameplay mechanic is… open your graphics settings and break the lighting system?
