I'm 17 now and enjoying myself immensely, but the goddamn weather system is oppressive as fuck.

If it's not dark, it's raining, or foggy, or a sandstorm, or what-the-fuck-ever.

I understand, and even like, the friction that bad weather provides, but it's getting to the point that just the crack of thunder and lightning pisses me off beyond words. They need to turn that fucking dial back a couple notches.

Seriously, even in a fantasy world it doesn't rain like a fucking monsoon every other day.

Is this game worth playing or should I wow forevor

Go watch PrimusMMO play some on Twitch. Do you like that kinda thing? Give it a shot. It's a fun game that's also annoying sometimes. It might take you 100 hours to get the hang of things, figure out the UI, learn the map a bit, choose a class you enjoy, etc. Humans can't see shit even with the gamma maxed, so beware. Ultravision gives things a blue hue. Underdocks and Evershade are good zones, but you have to learn them a bit. Finding a group will probably be hellish in a month due to level disparity and the few players in the higher levels being spread around the areas as well as being a few levels apart due to how long it takes to level. Statics who level together should be fine though, so if you have a static you might have more fun long-term. Pop will halve or similar as people go back to work and stop no-lifing, WoW grabs people by the balls, etc.

Do you salivate at the thought of playing WoW again? Skip it and save up your dopamine so when it launches you'll be primed and ready to nolife dopamine farm.

I think it's worth playing if you pick the right class, but after 200 hours I'm barely getting a feel for what I want to stick with. I recommend level 10 with your favorites and also taking a look at all the future spells and abilities you get. Some classes look basically the same from 1 to 60 as far as abilities go. It's a fun game if you enjoy this kind of gameplay. One more piece of advice, if you do play, go for a class with SoW, some kind of speed, gate, and the ability to solo. I can't find groups more than half the time even with 100+ people in the zone, because they did the smart thing and picked classes that can solo or they brought their friends. If you MUST find a group, figure out where the popular camps are and stand near them like a filthy beggar. Maybe they'll take pity on you and invite. LFG in ooc basically never worked for me, even after 10+ hours of trying in a zone with 300+ people in it.

Alright, not gonna lie, the reliance on MUD commands is a bit annoying. You have a 3D game, let me click 3D things. That or maybe find a better implementation because this isn't it.

Been whining at them for a while about this, their systems aren't universal, they don't APPEAR to have a default feedback system.

In places like wyrmsbane they have "chimes" that happen when people go over MUD commands. The rest of the world should have something similar. (there are carveout cases where this happens in emote and thats fine too.)

ADDITIONALLY, the /look command SHOULD tell you the "nearest up to X" (So like if a MUD is 250 units away "you see an outcrop of rocks 250 meters south west") mud commands. you know...like how a mud worked...

/look
you see an outcrop of rocks 250 meters south west.
you sense you are very close to an artifact of evil.
you see an fallen log 50 meters meters north.

Damn Noodle. Point to the doll where Blizzard touched you. No one is trying to suck Blizards dick and playing forever only requires the same subscription, no extra charge for a base game or expansion. Does Monsters also not require a subscription?

That might be one of the best examples of their bizarre fetish with recreating 90's MMO friction. It literally adds nothing to the game. It's a relic from an era where you didn't really have "graphics." But let's include it because games 25-30 years ago did?

I dunno man, why not...put a fucking clickable item on the ground? Is that a bridge too far in 2026?

I imagine if they updated some of the archaic things like that to be more modern while still retaining the gameplay feels of old-school MMOs could do huge things for them. I admire them sticking to their guns on some things but I do wonder if they forget the game needs to be fun.

The mud stuff is not fun at all. Or intuitive.

Completely disagree. I like the mini game of interacting with the environment thru mud commands. There are some where if you do /rub or /pry and stuff like that you get different outcomes it adds to some of the mystery or figuring shit out. Like the halfling skeleton you pour soup on lol. Kind of pointless but it’s fun to fuck around till you figure out what to do. It’s a lot more engaging than just clicking and shit happening. It’s kind of like the difference between paying respects and hitting F

there’s also places where a /look hints at secret hidden entrances and fake walls and shit like that. For example there’s a fake wall in fallen watch you’d never know until you realize there’s a weird plank kind of directed toward it for no apparent reason and you do a /look.

Now are there autists out there who will make macros to spam /look and /take scrap and /take object together and then mouse macro them to hit constantly to maximize efficiency. But the goal of the idea is to have people see something that seems like a point of interest, and get rewarded by having that confirmed by something interesting in /look that they may be able to engage with further

It's clunky but it has it's own charm. I just wish it was a little more consistent across the board.

I'm a fellow MUD disliker. I already complained about it enough and it's clear they're wanting to keep it in. I was at the gates of NH earlier on an alt asking for a buff and saw many more people asking for various things like a bind. That's when I realized the game would be improved 100 percent if they had chat bubbles. Just a few simple changes would be night and day for the game. I don't enjoy most of the friction they've added, I just put up with it, because I don't wanna play WoW or FFXIV anymore. When I compare M&M with other games in the future, I will definitely consider things like over-reliance on the text box, MUD action commands and other similar annoyances. The silly fun bits can be made in a more intuitive fashion. Most people have to ask or read the wiki to figure out what to type, even for things like the bard starter quest in EW. I think the worst thing about it is that it pulls me out of the game entirely. The disconnect between doing something functional or physical through my chat text when I'm in a game with a viewport really bugs me.

I get what you're saying, but that's a lot of work. They might have plans to change it, i know a lot of herbs have the same graphics and they plan on changing those, so all the quest MUD stuff might just be temporary. It would be a good question to ask in one of the dev streams.
