I guess these guys are going out on their own. They've gained a lot of experience in the structures necessary to maintain a WoW type game with a small audience.

You would be 1000% correct to assume that they are, deliberately, making a WoW clone type game with various changes. If that is the scope they intend to go with they might have a chance at succeeding. Either way should produce something interesting to follow for awhile.

It's been a while since we had a new MMO to be interested in. I hope they succeed.

However, their success in modding the greatest (from a technical perspective) MMO ever made is completely moot when talking about creating their own from the ground up.

If they are purposely targeting a WoW clone in the same style as WoW classic I think they have a reasonable chance at success. Their audience was never all that big.

No reason to believe that they will be making something that isn't a distinct WoW derivative.

Without official support it's doa. Let's try and keep it real up in here. It's 2026 and everyone has learned from failed Kickstarter type mmo. Turtle only succeded as WOW

I won't give them any money, but I'd give their game a shot if it looks decent when it comes out. Same with the guys who made the Heroes Journey EQ server who are also making their own game.
