Okay American Inventor, I'mma help you out. This guy also made Brawl in Cellblock 99 with Vince Vaughn and Don Johnson as the Warden. He also made Dragged Across Concrete with Mel Gibson and Vince.

The man is a rightwinger and makes movies for goddam men.

Enjoy.
Didnt see Cellblock 99 but dragged across concrete was great.

Bone tomahawk keeps coming up on my feed. Worth watching?
very much yes.

It gets mentioned alot when discussing gorey movies etc. But, its not like Martyrs, Hostile, Terrifier, etc. which are just gore porn.
Bone tomahawk is first and foremost a Western. But then, its a Western crossed with "the hills have eyes".
Great actors. Great filmwork.

Unblinking realism. This movie reveals just how many movies shy away from this, even the 'gory' ones.

the last thing i want from a movie is unblinking realism unless its supposed to be based off a true story. movies are supposed to be escapist entertainment. the good guy wins. gets the girl. the bad guy twirls his mustache and says "drats foiled again, I'll get you!!!! (shakes spiked fist)".

and everyone leaves the theater happy that something went right for somebody. thats the way fiction has been written/told/shown for the last 5000 years

Yeah, nothing like Greek tragedy, Sturm und Drang, existentialists, or hundreds of other examples ever existed. Uplifting happy ending hero stories are far from what fiction is only about.

Art is about the whole gamut of human experience. Only fedora hat fellators who jack off to their nostalgia think everything should just be a light hearted adventure.

there are always exceptions to every rule. but the vast majority of films follow the same story beats. Empire Strikes Back works because everyone knew Vader was going to get got in the third film as was Thanos in Endgame.

Makes me wonder how much of it is a Men vs. Women perspective thing. Like, how many romance novels have shitty endings? And is there a reason they're written specifically for women? While the "hero" stories written for males are mostly tragic: Batman is wicked screwed up in the head, so his struggle is all about staying "good" even though killing every bad guy is way more efficient; Superman is basically immortal, so everyone he cares about is going to end up dead no matter how good of a job he does... while he keeps going-- his job is basically that of a mercy nurse, making sure the time everyone else has left is as peaceful as possible.

Anyhow, there's a reason those markets make so much money: they're written specifically for their target audience. What we're seeing today is these idiots trying to prove human nature wrong and going broke for it. Women don't want weak men, and men like getting laid so they don't want to be weak. Go back to those stories and theatres will be full again almost immediately.

American psycho or rules of attraction, cabin in the woods or most horror films. Mist and I want to say The prestige. I need to just think of every movie my mom or grandma hated

look at the highest grossing films and most of them are the same basic story with some twists. the movie industry knows what works and what people want.

Time for Chucky to dump Tiffany?
i hated that movie, just cuz when it came out all my friends would say that stupid "friends to the end" line to me to bust my balls. it was around that time i stopped going by that nickname and went full Charlie mode. there was a small hit song back in the day called "Chuck E's in Love".
horrible fucking song, but kids would say, "ooh hi Chucky, are you in love?" girls would ask me if i was in love with them. fucking bitches.
