I think the "controversy" is asinine. Dak is playing really good, mostly mistake free football, which is exactly what Romo will do when he takes the field. They only thing they might not do as much is read option plays but you'll definitely see a lot more play-action, air it out plays. That Dak is doing this as a rookie is a revelation but, for 2016 at least, this is still Romo's team and the only thing Dak's good play has allowed is time for Tony to get fully healed. Is Dak the future? Absolutely. But let's deal with that in the space it belongs... the future.
Think of it like the Broncos last year. Regardless of how Osweiler played, they were always going to put Manning back in once he could go. That was Manning's team, win or lose. Even though it was clear Manning had declined significantly, there was never any doubt about who would take the field when it really mattered.
