Late season grind setting in for sure. Can't wait for the playoffs where teams play even timing between games, and players have to dig deep on the back to back nights they play. Can see a bit of an advantage now when teams have a rest and the other team did not. More so than early on in the season IMO.
Pre-deadline moves the Avs made seem to be working out well. I don't think you can point to another team that has a deeper defense. Our goalie Kuemper has best stats since Jan 1st, and all injuries are set to be back on the ice before the end of the regular season. Really hope this is the year for them again.

Maybe you're right about Avs defense, I haven't been catching too many of their games. But imo all the defense is in the metro over here on the east. Carolina and NY look extremely comfortable in their own zone and make very few mistakes it seems.
NY vs Florida is my pick for ECF. I expect a brutal game.
Carolina seems like the kind of team that can be run into and knocked off their game, ala Lightning '19

LOL I just put on my hockey game but they're still playing this Caps vs Flyers game and right when I put it on I see the deflection from Van Riemsdyk off of... Van Riemsdyk. That's gotta be an NHL first.

That was hilarious, crazy good game from us. Just glad not too much bs at the end get out of there healthy as possible. Breathing down Pitt/Boston's necks atm. Just nice to see us playing well late in the year. I'd really love to find a way to catch someone and avoid Florida.

We'll see, but Pens, Boston, and Tampa all losing tonight opens up some options potentially. We'll have to keep winning at this pace, though, which seems hard.

Hell of a win at MSG last night for the Canes. Rangers are a pain in the ass no matter who they play. Good on Krieder getting 50.
My thought on the first round for Carolina is I still think the worst case scenario is Tampa (even if they are struggling) because Vasi is the great equalizer.
Florida is playing on another level however they don’t have great goaltending and are out scoring their problems. If they run into lockdown defense (Canes and maybe Rangers) it could cause them issues.

Agree with you on Florida, I do think they can be upset by the right team (although at this point playing Canes or Rangers would be an ECF match up only).

I say if Josi hits the 100 pt mark give it to him. If not, its Makar's all day.
Haven't watched any Nashville outside of Lightning games this year so don't exactly his style of play, but the stats are obvious. However, I see Makar skate and it blows me away. The guy is a serious threat on 200 ft of ice.

Makar was anointed the winner from even before the season started. Granted his play has proven he is worthy and he is scoring an insane amount of goals for a defenseman this season. The way he walks the blueline is incredible. Hes gotta be the best skater in the NHL.
Josi definitely deserves it even if he doesnt hit 100. Hes the backbone of a team that doesnt have any other elite talent and hes been the engine for them in every aspect. If he didnt already have a Norris I would say hes definitely getting snubbed. But its really a coin flip this season.

THEN we score ANOTHER off side goal they call back
And finally we win.
