But did you really root for us when noted goal scorer Tom Wilson scored the eventual game winner in the 3rd, also matching his career high in goals for a season in doing so?

Actually didn't get to see the game, but heard there was some interesting moments. hard to be upset with a 6-3 win on the road with 45 shots on goal.

Didn't watch either, was taking my second daily nap. I was hoping for Wilson to do what he actually does best but he can't even do that right so a goal is fine I guess.

Lately what he does best is be a 20+ goal scorer. Just too valuable to be in the penalty box all the time (especially with us losing Hagelin for the year...we honestly don't have a lot of real good PK forwards in the lineup at this point). Frankly we just need him in that role, too many other guys having down years we kind of need his great all around play. Hathaway can be the sandpaper.

Gotta respect what he's doing out there. It's pretty insane. Obviously their team is built for pure offense so they will question whether it can work in the playoffs, but the rates he's putting up are just eye popping.

Aside from this late push to get out of a wild card spot (and early exit against Florida), really want Ovechkin to get his 9th 50 goal season. Has had a 49 goal year, 32 in 48 games in a lockout shortened season, and had 48 with like 13 games to play when covid stopped the one year. Already extended his record for most career 45 goal seasons with his 12th after his goal today.

You are a few years out of date. The Leafs defensive metrics are actually some of the better ones in the league, much better than a say Florida. Where they've suffered this year is having some of the worst goaltending in the league.

As a team with similar goaltending questions/issues, I can relate, but I've seen a few blown leads that hasn't been all on the goalie/s by them that makes one wonder. Florida is just a whole extra level, they almost remind me of the 2010 Caps.

Florida seems like a paper tiger. The all offense model fits them, they'll be one of the worst defensive teams in the playoffs. Florida's defense has been carried by good goaltending this season and Bob doesn't have a great playoff track record. Its the kind of team that seems to always end up being upset in the playoffs.

I just don't think we'd have a shot against them b/c I feel like you'd need a goalie who can at least potentially step up and steal a few games with an offense that can sorta keep pace. Just don't see it from us. Would feel much better playing Carolina or Rangers, although we'd be an underdog against either of them, too.

People love to write off the Leafs in the playoffs and I get it, but they are legit 1 of 3 teams in the East I want the Rangers to have no part of. I don't know if they can grind out 4 rounds, but them winning the East isn't far fetched to me.

They absolutely have the firepower. But you know how it is, they will be questioned until they actually make a semi deep run. Toronto hasn't even won a series in something like 17 years. I don't know if it would be good for them to somehow get Boston again or not. There's something to be said for slaying your dragon (us v. Pittsburgh in 2018), but maybe it would help them to not have that baggage.

The Leafs will choke in the playoffs, just like they have for so many years. It's sad but true. Why can't they get a good net minder?
