Crazy game to start. Skinner came to play so it's going to be a series. Sucks to lose on an awful penalty like that but oh well.

One of the big things is that Edmonton thrives on building speed and long passes in the neutral zone. Florida did a really good job of keeping the forecheck, limiting rushes, and making neutral zone entries a lot harder than they've been for the Oilers previously. Game 1 was definitely more important to Edmonton after going down 3-0 last year before waking up.

Edmonton really showed up for period 3 and overtime. That's the energy they need. Penalty was unfortunate but 100% unforced error.

You’re drawing a conclusion because it’s Bennett but Ekholm clearly pushed him into Skinner.
They eventually called it because Skinner stayed down. Funny how he didn’t come out of the game.

Going to OT again. Wow.

Excluding the COVID period, game 1 was the lowest rated Game 1 since 2008. Sucks because it's been entertaining but they're making it too hard to watch in the US.

Fire Bettman. Hockey shouldn't be played in June. Everyone is out doing shit, summer vacationing, bbqing, etc. Not to mention it's on TNT a second rate channel that is tied to max, what a fucking joke.

Was every fucking goal tonight on Skinner through his 5 hole? You think he needs to work on that? You think Florida has watched some tape? Like I've said before, Skinner isn't a Stanley Cup goalie. Edmonton losing at home essentially ends this series.

There's more pressure on Edmonton with the disparity in goaltending, and missing Hyman is hurting them already. Oilers are deeper than last year but they are still top heavy, and McDrai having to skate more minutes each game plus the hits (tied at 51 in game 1, Florida won game 2 hits, 60-39), it's going to add up.

Puck possession is gonna kill them too. They feast on breakaways and Florida isnt giving those up easily. They had an 8 minute stretch in the 2nd without a shot on goal and Florida forced long shifts in Edmonton's zone.
