I would say most Nintendo games are overrated these days because they went from stuffing them with content to adding game mechanics that exist to increase play time.

An example would be the weapon durability in the latest Zelda games. That didn't need to exist at all.

Yeah, the weapon durability is what warded me off of BOTW fairly quickly.

With Skyward Sword it was the motion controlled flight sequences (horrible) which were mandatory and would clearly be a big recurring part of the game.

Echoes of Hyrule, it was Zelda's inability to just swing a sword, instead being gimmick-palooza.

-This is all from a guy who was once given a quest to beat every (Nintendo system) Zelda game. Friend of mine from work, who was a huge Zelda-maniac, gave me his copy of The Wind Waker before he got shipped to Iraq (not sure if he came back, he didn't have social media and I never heard from him again), with the caveat that I beat the whole Zelda series and beat all the new ones. I did that, and kept it going even through the doldrums like the terrible DS duo, but eventually I had to give up on it.

Totally forgot about pre-ordering this system, oops. I'm still on board with Metroid and Mario at least.

Nintendo direct preorders are live if you did the invite thingie, its some sort of lottery system

I signed up for it the day it went live with the "enter the lottery". We still have to receive an email before we're eligible to pre-order on the nintendo site?

I also found the skyward sword motion control, and the weapon breaking so repugnant that i didn't beat either game.

I did enjoy echoes of wisdom tho, but i played it like it was pet-caster the zelda game. i didn't fret too much about her not having a sword. I could turn into link to use his sword here and there, but i found myself using the various pets for various situations and was amused enough by that.

and skyward sword is a game about doing as little sword and shield combat as possible, cus they just break. so it's been many moons since i played a normal ass zelda game. hell i'd say windwaker was the last because twilight princess had gay ass waggle shit too.
