It was birthday/Christmas money, but this is how I feel when my wife buys me presents.

Or you can just be sneaky like my parents, and when they bought me a Sega CD for Christmas, didn't bother to tell me that they used my bank account to pay for half lol

In their defense, it was $299 in the early 90s, which is like almost 700 now.

/loved me some Lunar RPGs on it though....

Kids really wanted a switch 2 with Mario kart. I really didn't care, but no way I was gonna spend a retarded $500. So I made a deal with them and we went halfsies. I could stomach $250 and they feel a sense of ownership with it. Mario Kart does look nice, but man what a boner killer of a system launch title.

Also, and I know this isn't new, but wtf is up with Mario kart and kid gloves. Seriously you can't crash into walls or get completely turned around or anything. You can basically hold the gas pedal and just not steer most of the time

That's the "steering assist" or whatever it's called. I think it can be turned off. Yeah, it's a real "wtf". Mario Kart 8 had it too and would often turn without me telling it to, which I at first thought was some kind of drift with my controller that only that one game had.

And yeah, Mario Kart is kid glove city.

Getting a little nervous waiting for Metroid Prime 4. After all this time, if it gets another delay when it's probably the system seller for a ton of people... ehhh.

I'd recommend trying to go a bit further in DK Bananza honestly, I think you're missing out unless you absolutely cannot stomach it for some reason. I bought it because it's a AAA Nintendo game and I like DK well enough I guess but I'm not a huge DK fan or anything, but goddamn this game is amazing. The levels get better and better for the most part except for like a couple that are a little gimmicky but they are short, and the transformations (or bananzas) add a ton of fun to the game. The last hour alone is just epic, it's really gone from "eh this could be cool I guess" to "wow that's an amazing platformer".

I'll leave it on the list and hit it up for a rental/library check-out when time permits and I need a colorful platformer. It didn't measure up to the other things I want to play now like Wuchang, but I won't write it off entirely.

Well I am way better off than my parents were/are, so I'm trying to impart a bit of financial wisdom on them while I can. They each have a few grand in savings, but we let them have a chunk of bday/Xmas money for fun.

A couple weeks ago I heard them talking to each other about both saving up for a switch 2 and I thought it was real cute. I figure at some point there will be games I want to play so halfsies felt fair.
