It was birthday/Christmas money, but this is how I feel when my wife buys me presents.

Or you can just be sneaky like my parents, and when they bought me a Sega CD for Christmas, didn't bother to tell me that they used my bank account to pay for half lol

In their defense, it was $299 in the early 90s, which is like almost 700 now.

/loved me some Lunar RPGs on it though....

Kids really wanted a switch 2 with Mario kart. I really didn't care, but no way I was gonna spend a retarded $500. So I made a deal with them and we went halfsies. I could stomach $250 and they feel a sense of ownership with it. Mario Kart does look nice, but man what a boner killer of a system launch title.

Also, and I know this isn't new, but wtf is up with Mario kart and kid gloves. Seriously you can't crash into walls or get completely turned around or anything. You can basically hold the gas pedal and just not steer most of the time

That's the "steering assist" or whatever it's called. I think it can be turned off. Yeah, it's a real "wtf". Mario Kart 8 had it too and would often turn without me telling it to, which I at first thought was some kind of drift with my controller that only that one game had.

And yeah, Mario Kart is kid glove city.

Getting a little nervous waiting for Metroid Prime 4. After all this time, if it gets another delay when it's probably the system seller for a ton of people... ehhh.

I'd recommend trying to go a bit further in DK Bananza honestly, I think you're missing out unless you absolutely cannot stomach it for some reason. I bought it because it's a AAA Nintendo game and I like DK well enough I guess but I'm not a huge DK fan or anything, but goddamn this game is amazing. The levels get better and better for the most part except for like a couple that are a little gimmicky but they are short, and the transformations (or bananzas) add a ton of fun to the game. The last hour alone is just epic, it's really gone from "eh this could be cool I guess" to "wow that's an amazing platformer".

I'll leave it on the list and hit it up for a rental/library check-out when time permits and I need a colorful platformer. It didn't measure up to the other things I want to play now like Wuchang, but I won't write it off entirely.

Well I am way better off than my parents were/are, so I'm trying to impart a bit of financial wisdom on them while I can. They each have a few grand in savings, but we let them have a chunk of bday/Xmas money for fun.

A couple weeks ago I heard them talking to each other about both saving up for a switch 2 and I thought it was real cute. I figure at some point there will be games I want to play so halfsies felt fair.

ever buy a controller, purely b/c you are lazy as fuck or rather, my wife would pick up the 8bitdo controller and say

"can you please turn on the switch"

well now the new one supports shake to wake (you actually shake it and it wakes up)

ppl are saying it does and does not shake to wake the switch 2, but they just added support for it, so when i have to buy a switch 2 sometime later, at least this controller will work w/ it

man the real nightmare was when both the switch 1 and 2 were awake. my girl wanted to play minecraft on the switch 1 on the tv. the boy was on switch 2 on his hands.

i tried over and over to activate a controller for switch 1 for her, but switch 2 kept grabbing them and sending him to the home screen.

i could not find the switch 1 mini wiimote grabber handholder thing so i had to tell him to put the 2 to sleep a minute. connect the controler via a cable. go to grip/order menu and try like five times to make switch 1 remember what a controller is.

i think it's all part of Big Controller making us buy new controllers.

I feel like I got my Switch 2 pretty well setup for a while. Got it loaded with a good basic variety of Switch 2 games that appeal to me, but after settling on a 256GB MicroSD-express card I am already getting close to only having enough free space for a few more things. I still don't have much in the way of original Switch games on it simply because I don't want to waste what precious free space I had on them unless they were properly enhanced in ways that make them much better to play, and only a select few Nintendo games worked for me like that.

Finished the new donkey kong. Was a good enough game, wasn't super hard once you figure out the patterns etc. In standard nintendo fashion. May do some after game collectibles until I get bored of it.

It may be worth playing again down the road but well worth the price imo. Was fun to destroy everything and the mini games had enough variety to not get stale, opposite of botw totk.

Would buy again.

DK Bananza has MASSIVE post-game content. Like literally 30% of the bananas in the game are only post-game content, and there's a bunch of challenges you only unlock by beating the game, so there's a lot more to do for you if you liked it.

so far for me the switch 2 (vs t he switch 1) has mostly served as a training facility for my 4 year old son to become a monster at mario kart world.

when we first got it he'd loose and realize he was loosing and ask us to let him win. but he discovered the world roaming mode where can just fuck around and now when i race with him he's tony-hawk grinding through the levels. driving on walls. bouncing over shit and all sorts of power moves. wins reliably without help.

It has nothing that’s a killer app. It’s underpowered. Nintendo systems are for Nintendo games.

Kirby isn't even out til Thanksgiving for their 3rd exclusive. If we want to play ports of older games it would be on PC.
