Utnayan Utnayan I'm on PC man, sorry I just got a new build. Oldbased Oldbased there are some really nice frieghters including some with fucking SEED VAULTS!

It could be easier to get reasources if we grouped up and made an alliance Chubzy Wombat Chubzy Wombat is making progress in the universe too on steam, so we will have another traveler to aid us.

So, this game is good now?
Here is the thing.
Many people like games like say Overwatch and willing to spend tons of money and time on it. For me a game like that or Rainbow Six is worth about $5 and 5 hours of playtime.
I don't judge though, but that is just what some people like. Many people hate grindy, survival, build and explore games.
I've spent thousands of hours in those games because that is what I do like, but if you generally dislike those types, you'll probably dislike this one.
It is a bit different though in that it doesn't wipe, unlike Rust where people spend weeks building up something to have a massive raid night or be raided and then start over every Thursday.
This does have many aspects in that you have land based building and a decent supply of building options, as well as basic crafting, resource collection, space battles, endless critters on planets, travel, exploration and fleet building and management and yes you will leave a mark in the world forever that someone someday may or may not cross. I've had 3 people pass through my discovered worlds so far that I am aware of.

So if those things are your thing, then I say yes it is worth the $24-30 sale prices. If they are not, stay far away and play something else instead.

For flying I bet controller is best, but everything else I say M+KB.

Someone said earlier , maybe it was Edit: P Pyratec supplied that information, that changing the flight controls to "Locked" greatly improves vehicle control. I can 100% vouch for this. legit changed controls 1/2 way through a battle was sure to lose (3v1) only to come out the victor. But yeah I can see controller being a highly effective option.[/USER]

I agree with Oldbased Oldbased , keep in mind I hate crafting survival but the setting, possibility for more development with the weekly free content and community events as well as playing with other people keeps me engaged. Also, another option is finding someone who does like the crafting/mining elements and have them supply you with the elements you need to start, thus saving you a few hours and then you get to jump into the universe without all the other bullshit, without the feeling of the danger free creative mode.

If anyone finds "metal fingers" go them immediately its most likely uranium. This element eliminates the need to craft launch thrust fuel and takes less to fill the thuster. I got 250 units per metal finger"

Got a Freighter now (13M cost) and about 7 Frigates (1-2M each). Really enjoying the fleet aspect so far, sending frigate groups on missions and the like.

Ya I send out 4 groups and go on about my business. Check the communications/command rooms every hour or so to tell them to stop whining half the ship is blown up and get to work and go back to what you are doing. I've started trading in busted ships I found on planets for cheap C class with 20+ slots to use them for storage.

Currently my "base" is a spot in the middle of space and building a new land base or restarting the game isn't fixing it. I've ran into a few bugs here and there but this one seems to be the worst for me so far, especially given there is no base module there or a way to remove it.

As for fighting, I haven't had much trouble with default settings. I stack up 3 shield mods and 3 of the shotgun cannon and do about 15k damage per 3 round burst which is enough to kill 1-3 ships per pass.

I didn't know about putting mods in groups to get a bonus so I spent most of the night nano farming to redo my mods. Still have days of things I want to do before I start chilling and socializing. That'll come once I am done doing 50 things at once.

Do the frigates repair themselves over time? Mine was damaged during a mission and I can't find a way to fix it.

I haven't done this myself, not played much since the update. But saw it on a stream. You need to select the damaged frigate from the main computer on your base frigate. It will tag your damaged frigate with an icon (I think you need to do this). Then you need to fly over to the damaged one and land on it. You will then see X number of places in it that is damaged. You run over to them and repair using materials. Not sure if it is always the same material.

EDIT: Don't need to go to the main ship. Just land on the damaged ones and accept the quest they give you to find the damaged components. There is a bug in the game that sets it to 0 or 1 damaged component, but you can't see them when you get out of the ship. You can fix that by moving a bit away and warping your freighter to a new spot, should fix it.

So I moved my base to a different planet and all sorts of problems started happening with my specialist quests which I cannot proceed. Doing some research this is a bug over a year old...fuck that. So my question is, I don't want to start over (over 30 hours in this guy), but are there any things that are gated behind these specialist quests or should I just start over. I probably will just put down the game for awhile if I'm shit out of luck.

That sucks. :( I'll make sure not to do this.

Ya I am working around such a station bug now from moving stations, bases and whatnot. It appears you can solve lots of the issues other ways with some luck.
Removing the new stations and placing them again resets the quest lines. You still have to place a large room which will unlock the construction station which unlocks many other stations and it isn't mentioned in any quest and of course no tutorial that you need to do so. Another solution is flying around on decent habitable worlds and busting into many manufacturing facilities you see and making the right choice. This usually gives a blueprint of some form or another.

Since my freighter was full of shitty ships I had left behind on a planet long ago( 2 days ago ) it appears those ships fly themselves to your ship when you warp so your hanger is full of trash tier ships from the hood. I have started trading those in for class C haulers that I could afford and also got a 2nd class A fighter with the 48% damage bonus. I stacked him with 3 shield mods, 3 positron mods and 3 knife mods and 3 pulse mods( maneuver bonus's ), conflict scanner and sensor and something else. It can't carry more than a few slots but I have no issues taking on 5+ ships at a time without worry. I do keep pyrite, uranium and sodium nitrate right under the pulse, takeoff, and shield so I can fill them up as needed. I use this ship when I select kill missions off the freighter. It seems I spend most of my time crawling around a dozen or so frigates fixing shit because apparently they cannot.

I had my freighter vanish from my system and I couldn't find it. Luckily I was able to still transfer inventory to it somehow, so I gave it some Hyperspace fuel and summoned it to my new system and it showed up, along with the crippled ship I recruited that I sent on a death run :)

I should have tagged you here with my post above. Simply delete the scientist terminal and save/exit, enter back in game and place it again in a slightly different spot. It will reset the quest to educating the beacon. If you had a bugged transmission tower, do it in a different base on a different part of the world, or a different world. If in space place a new one someplace elsewhere for it.

I'll give it a whirl later tonight. Thanks!

Can confirm it fixed me. I went to a different system just to be safe, removed scientist station and placed it in the next spot beside it. He did the trying to educate beacon thing for 1.5-2 hours then asked me to remove his core and take to a monolith as I did before. When I came back, I got the circuit board recipe. Before I got lead and acid which is supposed to come much later.

The issue seems to be with having a scientist station before having a construction station so you do things out of order.
