I'm hoping that a 3080 can run Tarkov in DSR mode 1440p*2 aka 5120x2880 at decent frames. A 2080TI can do a shaky 40-60FPS, if the 3080 can do 60-80 my K/D should increase by 3% or so because it's so crystal clear but not really very playable compared to jaggy/pixelated 1440p @ 100 fps thanks to how shitty Unity's AA is.

True, 4 times the pixels with 2 times the resolution. With Tarkov especially, using 2x or anything other than exact integer multiples of the native pixel density makes the images in that game worse than the lower resolution because of scaling. But downscaling a "4x" image to the native resolution is incredibly sharp and creates almost perfectly anti-aliased images. For anyone with an older 1080p 120hz+ monitor, you might not even really need or want a 4K 144hz monitor anytime soon. I actually wish I had a 1080p 144hz monitor to try with Tarkov, I bet DSR 4.0 so it's rendering at 4K and downscaling to 1080P would look amazing and run at 100fps or so. Skyrim on my 4k TV at 1080p@DSR 4k looks about 90% as good as real 4K and it can run at 120hz.

They should take a demand-centric pricing scheme to defeat scalpers and miners. Start the $ at 3x their current price and reduce it as stock scales up to meet demand. Let's see how many miners / scalpers want to buy an RTX 3080 tomorrow at $2100 when it's going to be $1400 in a month and $700 on Black Friday.

Like I said, this is a reasonably good generational leap from Turing but it's nothing to write home about and the hype was way off the reservation with these things.

That hype was pretty much due to the fucktarded 2080ti prices. People think they are getting the holy grail now.

Where the heck does 3840x1200 land in the resolution scale. My current gaming resolution. I will probably get me the 3080 then that Samsung G9 which is 5120x1440...

Did some water cooling a couple of years back. Was surprised how easy, well made they are now. I ended up just switching it out for Noctua's, because wasn't really overclocking much. But the new water cooling systems aren't nearly as messy as they use to be.

Quick mafs. On the G9 I'd expect percentage gains close to the 4K benchmarks, maybe ~10% lower.
