In the other thread in the tech forum, Tuco talks about the hidden specs, and how no one seems to know what exactly will work. And no, I don't work for anyone, I'm self employed and loving it."certified" "hidden specs"
Please allow me to roll my eyes at this marketing non sense.
Yep. That's a serious problem, as is people misconfiguring their systems and devs making bad software for it.
It's like people saying that cookies are terrible because they put in one tbsp of salt instead of one tsp, or some dunderhead made a cookie recipe that forgot sugar.
No, I'm asking what it does. I figured it just sort of makes it look like you are staring at a big monitor attached to your face if there's no other VR gfx to process? You wouldn't want to do that, because that 55" (or 55feet a ways away from you because why not?) monitor would be at like 1200x1024 resolution.
In the future when we get 8k HMDs, that will be a very attractive option.
I'm pretty sure just loading up a random game wouldn't work at all. The Rift CV1 has two screens in it so at best when you load a non VR game you'd only get it rendering to a single eye. There is third party software out there that will turn a lot of 2D games into VR, like VorpX, Vireio or Tridef. With those you can play stuff like Skyrim in actual VR. The real problems with that is the UI for most games is not designed for VR or the Rift screens. Using Skyrim as the example, when I tried it in VR the UI was rendering beyond my visual range in the Rift. That becomes a problem in most games since it's pretty standard for UI elements to be at the edges of the screen, where you won't be able to see it in VR. Each of those third party drivers has their own way around that limitation so the game is still workable, just not ideal.Because I haven't looked into it and I'm sure you guys have: how does Rift work with legacy games? Not at all or will it just sort of 'make' a fake 55" monitor attached to your face?
Show some self control and don't move your head, you pussy.can't imagine this being very good when you're jerking it and the headset is bobbing all over the place.
