Palmer confirmed yesterday that preorders will be charged at the time of shipping and not immediately. Just FYI.

He also said that preordering a Rift will reserve a place in line for Touch preorders when they start.

I placed an order, 50% chance I will cancel it in the next 30 days though but I figure better to have an order in early in case I really want it. I already am regretting it.

I get the "Something went wrong, Please try again." message on the Reserve your space in line for Oculus Touch page which also has your order confirmation number. They won't charge until ship, $1 is just authorization to make sure its a real credit card.

Bleh it won't take me to the confirmation page.

At least you aren't in Europe. Poor bastards have to pay 742 Euro for it.

I also really wonder what the vive is gonna sell at now. It has those one or two lighthouse attachment thingies, a controller (this comes with an xbone $40 controller), and built in camera. Plus HTC is much less able/likely to take a loss compared to Facebook. I could see the Vive being $899...

PS4 one though should be $400 or $500

Also a huge massive development going on right now is eye tracking inside the headset. Basically they are very close to figuring out the tiny amount of screen space your eyes are ACTUALLY looking at, and only rendering that at full 4k or whatever and the rest of the dual screens at 720p. Once thats perfected it'll drop the compute requirements down massively for VR, as only a tiny portion of the screen has to be rendered at HDR. Still a year or more away from deployment though, probably be something in the PS5/XboxTwo gen.

They charged my card, I will assume I got one. Lets hope for a confirmation email in the coming weeks. My family and I are going to have so much fun with this, I am pumped.

Considering how good the Samsung VR is, I'm OK.

I'll order a rift when they announce an official Automatic 5 Piston Gas powered Fuck-A-Tron 5000 attachment to bang a virtual 18 year old japanese anime hologram.

The price is expensive, but I'm okay with it. That said, since its not shipping until April anyway, I'll likely wait for the HTC version to come out as well and read some reviews of both before pulling the trigger.

I regulate how much the family uses the VR, I don't want the kids getting messed up on this. My daughter informed me she likes real games anyway. I informed her that real games are outside, and not on a TV screen.

Yeah I was considering it, but not at that price point for a generation one piece of hardware and without the fancy controller things. I'll wait for the Samsung VR / PlayStation VR or the inevitable much nicer Oculus 2
