Just go to group finder for quick play. I had a lot of luck getting good groups this way recently when leveling an account to 25. Not everyone is gonna be good but it's far more likely then doing 2 stack qplay.

I Played that Paris map.. was excited at fist because i thought it was control at first for some reason.... I don't now what they are thinking giving us another 2CP map. Even a better version of volskaya or Anubis is still a bad map you dread to get.

My fave overwatch streamer lady Dolphin is a support GM, and they have a rough time of it. Often the game will give her another GM support and then diamond or masters dps. Then the other side is like a 3 stack of owl pros.

The whole team knows they are doomed haha. They start negotiating trying to get someone to take a 50 sr hit for the team.

He's on PTR today. He will be for March's content update to the game so expect him to sit there for 3 weeks. His unlocks aren't on PTR yet.

Patch notes: Overwatch PTR Patch Notes – February 26, 2019

Nothing sticks out as a GOATS killer, and I don't believe the new hero will change things either. It may reinforce the meta. I thought for sure they would nudge Mercy's heal rate up a tick or two, but surprisingly they didn't.

Overwatch PTR Patch Notes – February 26, 2019
A new Overwatch patch is currently in development and now available for testing! To share your feedback or report and issue, please post in the PTR Feedback 64 or PTR Bug Report forums 17.

Please note that the below patch notes only include changes currently available for testing on the PTR. While many of these changes will also be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in a future patch, the PTR is PC-only and only reflects changes coming specifically to that platform.

PATCH HIGHLIGHTS
New Hero: Baptiste (Support)

Baptiste is a battle-hardened combat medic who wields an assortment of experimental devices and weaponry to keep allies alive and eliminate his enemies. Baptiste’s Biotic Launcher fires a three-round-burst that rewards accuracy and recoil control with significant damage output. His alternate fire lobs grenades that heal allies near the point of impact. With Regenerative Burst , Baptiste activates an intense surge that heals himself and nearby allies over time. When danger is near, Baptiste can toss out his Immortality Field to prevent allies from dying. Baptiste moves around the battlefield with Exo Boots , jumping over obstacles and clearing distances that would stop other heroes. Baptiste deploys his Amplification Matrix as his ultimate, which doubles the damage and healing effects of friendly projectiles.

GENERAL UPDATES
Armor

  • Beam-type damage is now reduced by 20% when hitting armor
  • Damage over time effects are no longer mitigated by armor
Developer Comments: The damage taken by armor from damage over time effects, such as Widowmaker’s Venom Mine, and beam weapons, like Symmetra’s Photon Projector, varied greatly. Now it will be more consistent and predictable.

Damage Boost

  • Damage boost is now applied when a projectile is fired rather than when it hits a target
Developer Comments: Previously, the effects of damage boosting were only accounted for if the damage-dealing hero was being boosted as they landed a hit. Now, damage is applied to the projectile as it is fired. This means the damage-dealing hero doesn’t need to be boosted when the projectile hits an enemy for the damage boost to be accounted for.

Knockback

  • Knockback distance is now more consistent
  • Heroes that are flying can now be knocked back and slowed
Developer Comments: Knockbacks are now less affected by how the enemy was moving when they were hit. Instead of having small or large knockbacks that depend on chance, knockbacks will feel similar regardless of the enemy’s movement leading up to the knockback. Allowing flying heroes, like Mercy when using her Valkyrie ability or D.Va using her Booster ability, to be properly knocked back makes for more fluid, realistic gameplay.

Sound

  • A new sound plays when you land a hit while damage boosted
  • A new sound plays when you land a hit, but it doesn’t do any damage
Developer Comments: With the addition of Baptiste, we wanted to be sure that you can tell when your hits were being buffed or nullified, regardless of what hero you’re playing.

HERO UPDATES
Ana

  • Nano Boost
    • Heal reduced from 300 to 250
Developer Comments: Giving Nano Boost an instant heal effect enabled players to survive longer and made Ana’s ultimate valuable. However, it needs to be slightly less effective for refilling large health pools.

Doomfist

  • Rising Uppercut
    • Cooldown reduced from 7 to 6 seconds
  • Seismic Slam
    • Cooldown reduced from 7 to 6 seconds
Developer Comments: Reducing the downtime of Doomfist’s abilities should make his gameplay feel more fluid.

Hanzo

  • Sonic Arrow
    • Detection radius increased from 7 to 9 meters
Developer Comments: Because of how dense the environment is on some maps, the Sonic Arrow can feel ineffective in some areas. Increasing Sonic Arrow’s detection radius should make it more effective.

Lúcio

  • Sonic Amplifier
    • Soundwave now counts towards Offensive Assists
Developer Comments: The knockback on Lúcio’s Soundwave is a great tool for pushing enemies into situations that get them killed, so they should be rewarded an offensive assist for doing so.

McCree

  • Fan the Hammer
    • Damage reduced from 55 to 50
  • Deadeye
    • Damage per second increased from 275 to 550 after locking onto targets for 2.5 seconds
Developer Comments: After reducing armor’s effectiveness for all heroes, Fan the Hammer doesn’t need to deal quite as much damage. Increasing Deadeye’s damage after being locked on for a bit makes it more effective when attacking high health, static targets (like barriers) and heroes with over 600 health. It will not impact how dangerous this is for heroes under 600 health.

Mei

  • Endothermic Blaster
    • Primary fire damage increased from 2.25 to 2.75 (45 to 55 damage per second)
  • Ice Wall
    • Health reduced from 500 to 400
Developer Comments: Increasing the damage of Mei’s primary fire should make her Freeze and Icicle move combination more potent. Making the pillars on Mei’s Ice Wall easier to destroy means less waiting for the wall to disappear on its own and more opportunities to counter it.

Moira

  • Biotic Grasp
    • Heal over time duration increased from 3 to 4 seconds
    • Total healing increased from 50 to 65
Developer Comments: These minor changes make Moira’s passive healing effect on Biotic Grasp slightly more effective when topping off an ally’s health.

Orisa

  • Fusion Driver
    • Movement speed penalty while firing reduced from 50% to 30%
Developer Comments: As a defensive tank, Orisa can have trouble pushing forward with the team. Allowing Orisa to move faster while firing should make it easier to apply pressure on the enemy team and use her barrier in proactive ways.

Pharah

  • Rocket Launcher
    • Minimum explosion damage increased from 16.25 to 20
Developer Comments: This change sets the Rocket Launcher’s minimum damage to where it was before we rebalanced its direct impact and explosive damage in a recent patch.

Soldier: 76

  • Pulse Rifle
    • Damage increased from 19 to 20
  • Sprint
    • Delay before you can fire the weapon after using Sprint reduced from .5 to .3 seconds
  • Tactical Visor
    • Can target RIP-Tire and Immortality Field
Developer Comments: This change should potentially allow Soldier: 76 to kill an enemy hero one shot sooner. Reducing the time between when you use Sprint and when you can fire should make the ability more fluid and responsive. Giving Tactical Visor the ability to target Junkrat’s RIP-Tire and Baptiste’s Immortality Field drone is a quality of life improvement, since these are both critical targets.

Sombra

  • Hack
    • Cooldown is reduced by half when hacking a health pack
Developer Comments: The cooldown on Hack often made it feel less effective to target health packs instead of players. This will make both health packs and players viable targets for hacking.

Torbjörn

  • Base health increased by 50 armor (250 maximum health)
  • Overload
    • Armor gain reduced from 150 to 100
Developer Comments: Torbjörn’s survivability was a bit low, so we’ve shifted some power from his Overload ability to his base health.

Widowmaker

  • Infra-Sight
    • Reveals enemy health bars
    • Now canceled on death
Developer Comments: Infra-Sight had no counter to its effect, so it now ends when Widowmaker dies. To balance out its higher risk of use, Infra-Sight now reveals enemy health bars to Widowmaker’s team.

Wrecking Ball

  • Adaptive Shield
    • No longer cancels Roll mode
Developer Comments: This will make Adaptive Shields a more powerful survival tool, since being forced out of Roll mode left Wrecking Ball more susceptible to fire.

It doesn’t look like he counters GOATS but he doesn’t seem to fit in either.

He might enable new comps, now whether they will be strong enough to change the meta and challenge GOATS I don’t know.

He looks pretty fun to play though. I can’t wait to try him out.

So watching the video, looks like a good mobility aoe healer. The immortality field doesn’t seem to stop all damage, just damage up until a certain health %. Also looks like you can shoot the drone making the field to stop it. His ult looks like an aoe Zen discord orb, which should help with stacked tanks

I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you, but what seems so bad about the new character?

at a glance it looks like it's just going to make something like goats even better than it already is lol adding another AOE based healing support, with counterplay to things like dva bomb & junkrat ult are good but still.

who knows though, maybe it'll just end up making Pharah a monster comboing her with him and mercy lol i'm cool with seeing pharah being a monster

edit: im actually really curious about pharah and him now, i can see that shitting on goats. Mercy boost + matrix + pharah barrage shielded by a immortality field? delete everything.

I tried him on the PTR a little, he’s a lot fun to play.

I love his gun, it has a good feel to it, it doesn't do tons of damage and has a fairly substantial damage fall off for long range, it's really a medium range weapon. The secondary fire is the healing grenades, these have quite a small healing radius but heal for a decent amount. Fun to use, while it's a skill shot, it's not at the same level as Ana for example.

The immortality field is a nice ability, it's very powerful obviously but has a lot of counterplay. The device itself floats in the air and can be destroyed, it's high enough that I don't think it can be hidden behind a barrier so it's fairly easy to destroy. Also, you do take damage while inside the field, you just can't get below 20% life, meaning if you're not healed when it ends you will most likely die quickly being only 20% life.

I think at high SR it will be destroyed almost instantly and it's usefulness will be limited, but at lower SR it will be a very powerful ability. It is on a long cooldown though, I think 15 seconds or so.

The healing pulse is a point blank AOE heal over time. It's a fairly powerful heal, and once it has pulsed you don't need to stay around him to get the effect so it's nice. It's also on a long cooldown, I think around 15 seconds too.

His exo boots allow him to crouch and charge a little jump meter, and when you press jump he jumps really high. It's a 2 button ability to use, crouch to charge, jump key to activate the jump. It's movement ability seems very similar to how Ashe's gun work, seem to be similar height, but less horizontal movement, it has no cooldown though so it gives him a lot of mobility. While it works as a disengage, it's not great, the limited horizontal movement means that if you don't have high ground to jump to, you will not be able to disengage very well, the charge time means you'll also take a bit of damage before you can jump.

His ultimate is pretty cool, it like a mini Mei's wall that boost damage and healing that goes through it, you can reoriented it like you can with Mei's wall. It's small though, smaller than a Reinhardt's shield. I think it will be an interesting ultimate where it will get great results sometimes, but often be useless. It requires good positioning for your team to take advantage of it, also somewhat easy for people to get out of line of sight. It charges fairly fast.

I think he'll fall into the main healer category, he can output a lot of healing. He has nice utility, and is extremely fun to play.

I don't think he will change the meta. We will still see GOATS. He might be slotted into GOATS but I don't think he will make it stronger, just allow for various version of GOATS.

He may enable some other comp though, whether they will be able to compete with GOATS remains to be seen.

I think he will make bunker comp much stronger, an Orissa and Bastion shooting from behind his ultimate will be extremely powerful, and his immortality field will make it a bit harder to break the bunker. I think this might end up being horrible at lower SR which often has a difficult time with bunker comps.

He will work well with DPS classes, a Widowmaker shooting from behind his ultimate can kill 200HP hero in 1 body shot. A Tracer can 1 clip a Roadhog from shooting through Baptiste ultimate.

I think Baptiste is a nice addition. He won't be meta changer like Brigitte was, but he's a well designed hero which is fun to play and fairly unique.

They need to fix GOATS soon. I wonder if the nerf to armor from beam weapon will affect GOATS a little, I mean Zarya, Winston, Symmetra(a little) and Moira are all going to do about 30% more damage against armor, and armor is a big part of why GOATS work. It doesn't need much to kill GOATS since most people actually don't want to play it...they just have to because it's so good.

Regarding goats, akm was on the insight show Thorin does and talked about scrimming eagle gaming when he and mou and rck and ... someone I'm forgetting were in europe. One of the guys on the show said Eagle could easily win stage 1 of owl because of their mastery of goats and nobody disagreed.

They also brought up the point that europe is where everyone should have recruited from instead of korea for this stage. There are guys like Zappis out there that have been playing tank heavy for years.

More changes coming to the PTR.

Most important ones...nerf to Lucio's speed boost, nerf to Zenyetta's Orb of Discord, and nerf to Zarya alternate fire damage radius.

3 nerfs to GOATS essentials characters.

We’re looking at updating the PTR soon with the following additional hero changes:
Junkrat
  • Frag Launcher: Impact damage increased from 40 to 60
Lucio
  • Speed Song: Effect lowered from 30% to 20%
  • Amp it up: Speed song amped effect reduced from 70% to 50%
  • Wall Ride: Passive movement speed gained while wall riding increased from 20% to 40%.
Mccree
  • Bonus damage ramp from the previous 1.34 change will now begin after 1.5s, down from 2.5.
Reaper
  • Passive: Healing amount reduced from 50% to 40%
Symmetra
  • Photon Projector: Primary fire damage ramp speed increased by 20%
Zarya
  • Particle Cannon: Alternate fire radius reduced from 2-3 to 1-2 (based on energy level)
Zenyatta
  • Orb of Discord: Effect reduced from 30% to 25%
  • Orb of Destruction: Damage increased from 46 to 48
I’m not sure exactly when these changes will hit PTR, but we’re hoping tomorrow or Friday.

Yep, that's gonna hurt the GOAT herd. Glad to see this stuff (and kinda glad to see that slight Reaper nerf). With Zarya's damage to armored targets already being nerfed her role as a "dps" is gonna be very limited. The Sym thing is weird though, they are making her primary fire take longer to ramp the damage up? Am I reading that right? Was it a problem before because I dunno? That change feels weird.

The zarya change is interesting. The analysis guys were talking about how Sinatra goes almost entirely right clicks into the back line. AKM wasn't really sure if it was better to do that or beam on the rein shield. Almost seemed like Sinatra was boosting his own stats at the expense of the team, and indeed he set some kind of new damage record on king's row vs Titans. (but still lost)

You get faster gravs but they don't necessarily win you fights. And you feed heal charge.
