Went 4-6 with a 36. Played mostly Lucio (did well though) so maybe that's it? The 3 games I played Soldier I had several golds (eliminations, damage, etc). Whatever.

Won the last game I played, was a KOTH and I was Gold in Kills, Objective Kills, Objective Time & Damage as DVA and was also Silver in Healing (not sure how). I had similar stat lines in the two matches I lost. I don't understand why I consistently get grouped with people I am obviously better than. I would love to play a game where I feel like I am doing good and earn no Medals, would be so fun to get carried in solo queue.

Like I said before I think I am slightly above average at a few Heroes, average on a few and below average on most. If I don't get a decent run of teammates in the next few days I might just take a break, I mean what is the point of getting frustrated over a video game when I am almost 40 :p

All the people whining just seem like they haven't played a competitive ladder before. They do wonky shit, especially in regards to hidden rating (actual rating) and clamping. Say you've played 1000 games and went 50/50. Then you win 20 in a row. You're not even to 51% win rate (50.98) so your rating probably wouldn't change much at all even with 20 games in a row won. So how do you not upset your players by having 20 wins without a rank increase? By artificially inflating the gains and losses in the apparent rating while the actual (hidden) rating is rising slowly. People need to feel the progress on the short term or they just quit. Gain too fast and your next bit of games will lose apparent ranking even going 50/50. Have faith in the system and that consistent performance will even out over time.

Actually climbing has more to do with + than %. If you hover at .500 for 100 games then all of a sudden go on a 20 win streak, you're now 20 games over .500. Now if you hover at that point for another 100 games, your rating is same, still 20 over .500, won't climb till you increase that. So at 120 games you're 70W/50L, 58% win rate. But then you had another 50W/L so now you're 120/100, 55% win rate... you didn't lose rating though.

As you play more games, win % goes down, but your rating/MMR/placement is relatively same as long as you are keeping wins/losses even.

If we used your method (win %) then a player whom has achieved their top rank would slowly lose MMR as they continue to maintain even wins/losses, thus dropping their % over time, but we all know that doesn't happen.

I played a bunch tonight solo even though I said I was quitting.

The TLDR of it is I didn't move at all.

Not sure how many games I played because they took fucking forever. But when the dust settled I was at 43. What really pissed me off was we had a leaver and the game said I could leave without penalty. So I left and my rank went down a point. nice work on that.

I don't think this can be enjoyable in any sense of the word as a solo player. Even if you play with a team, unless it's a static team it's very hit or miss. It's extremely frustrating to play for several hours and your rank doesn't move a single point (or even goes down, in my case).

I only solo queue so far. Started at 54, up to 57 or 58 now. A couple losses iirc, some wins that didn't give very much(other teams avg rank was lower them my team) and wins that usually give 1 entire point up if the other team had a higher avg. Only 16 total games so far this season, 11 wins/5 losses(with placement being 7-3).

I had two matches where someone left. One was right at the start, was like 10 seconds into the round and the game just closed itself and sent everyone back to main menu. The other the player left pretty late into the round and I was able to leave as soon as the count down finished at the top without getting a penalty.

Nothing but symetra on attack and blaster mercy on defense. I screamed get some into the mic every time I got an elimination no matter what the team was saying or doing. 7-3 58.

The rage is fucking hilarious.

Fuck i wish i didnt wait so long to play more/hit 25. Since comp came out, I went from steady 60-65% win rate to in the pits. Forget playing support/tank, my games are 90% lv 10 fuck whits doing things like building torb turrets near our base on KOTH middle point type maps....

Well don't solo queue this shit or you will end up with nothing but people who cant talk, who don't switch characters, you end up with 3-4 gold medals regardless of what role you play its sad.

These 70+ guys get like 1/20th of a point when they win. Then loses a game to a team 1 avg rank higher(69vs70 iirc) and loses half a point(though probably would of gained that amount or more if they had won).

It's like that at every rank though I don't get the points. Win get 1/20th a level lose lose half a level, win get 1.5 levels lose 1/20th a level. The team averages seem to be the same according to the game so I don't know how to system works yet. I am hoping it will make more sense after a couple of weeks of settling.

Ugh, tried to play tonight and my internet went out right as we finished picking characters and got put into the spawn room before the game even started. Lost a whole rank. FML.

Not sure if accurate, but according to Seagull, the penalty you avoid is the Leaver Penalty (getting banned/suspended from Rank by Leaving too much), however you'll still suffer Rating adjustments. Apparently they don't consider losing Rating a Penalty.

You're not getting any better (or worse) so your rank doesn't move. This isn't an MMO, you aren't grinding out exp and leveling up.

Well this makes a shitload of sense:

Ranked KotH is bugged, you will only receive 10-20% of your MMR - win or lose : Overwatch

I've seen a bunch of threads asking why they can win 2-3 matches and barely move up but losing a single match drops their rank. This is a known issue right now, KotH maps are only rewarding a fraction of the ranked MMR that the Escort and Capture maps are rewarding. So currently you will need to win 8-10 KotH matches to make up for a Payload loss. Blizzard is investigating the issue but have not said one way or the other if this is intended - I'm assuming it is not.
I also believe this is what is causing the same KotH quickplay issue that results in your stats freezing after the first round, and no fire being rewarded after a kill/assist. This results in ~1-1.4k XP being rewarded instead of the usual 2k+ for consecutive matches with gold medals. I'm guessing it is using the first round in the Bo5 and ignoring the rest of the rounds after that. So it's your score of 1 round vs scores from 3-5 rounds, ofc you only get a pittance of MMR; you played like shit - or that's what the game thinks.
Ended up playing a bunch of KoTH last night but didn't piece together why I was gaining/losing so little. So basically KoTH maps don't mean shit atm. You'll gain like 10X more rating from the other maps (also lose about 10X more rating).

What a nice start to my day. Just played a competitive game and won. Randomly got TJT in my group, he was a solid Junkrat, actually our whole team was solid.
