In regard to Enchanters being needed, from what I gathered they meant that if you had an Enchanter, everything would go smoother, but you could manage the content without one in most cases.
For example, you could use root, or off tanking, or some other class may have a lesser for of CC perhaps, much like how Chanter had the best haste, but in a pinch Shammy haste would do.
At no point did I get the impression that they were going to make CC pointless, just that if you are skilled and creative, you can get by without the master of CC if you have to.
