Well, that's the reality. As far as content and what they've been implementing goes. As for opinions on whether the game is fun and all that jazz, certainly subjective. A lot, aka the vast majority, of content this last year has been level 35-50 zones, dungeons, and raids. So, if the people aren't hitting the late game, I could see how not much has changed at lower levels, outside the classes getting revamped and constantly tweeked.

That’s like the literal opposite of what I’ve heard from everyone else , not just here but people that have played the game recently.
Most posters in this thread are Bradmads lost in a pit of emotional trauma. Telling the truth is hard for them.

Patch notes for PTR look pretty good, they nixxing their weird hotbar system.

PTR Patch Notes – May 13, 2026

May 13, 2026

Steam Client Available

Steam users may now log in to our Public Test realm and help test upcoming updates for the game.

Character Wipe

This update includes a character wipe. Due to the large number of class issues that were addressed, we are asking everyone to start with new characters to help us re-establish a baseline for moving forward.

In this Update

This update is primarily focused on bug fixes for issues identified during Week 1. Some tuning has occurred, but the tuning process is still in its early stages. Major changes and additions are outlined below, and detailed notes follow in the subsequent sections.
Unified Hotbar
This week we are introducing updated hotbar functionality. All characters now have a single hotbar that can be used for any combination of action and utility abilities. Here are the details:
  • Each character will have 14 hotbar slots available. As mentioned, these can hold any combination of action or utility abilities.

  • You can adjust how the hotbar displays on the screen by clicking on the drag handle at the bottom right of the hotbar and dragging it into your desired configuration. By using this functionality, you can configure it as a single row, or multiple rows, either horizontally or vertically.

  • You can still use ability loadouts with the new hotbars.

  • Buffs will need to remain on your hotbar to remain active in the Week 2 build. This limitation is temporary. We will be removing this restriction in an upcoming build.
Resist Scaling Changes
We are increasing the scaling for resist values by a factor of 3 based on data gathered during Week 1. This change is being made to provide more room for itemization and buffs that impact character spell resistance values. As a result, the maximum limit for any spell resistance value is now 300 (previously it was 100). Note that characters are not expected to have access to much in the way of spell resistances until later stages of testing when the level cap has been increased.
Spell Pushback
Spell Pushback has been enabled. If you are hit while casting a spell, your cast time may be slightly delayed as a result. Please be sure to provide feedback on this combat mechanic if you encounter it.

Level Cap

The level cap for Week 2 will remain set to level 10.

Week 2 Testing Focus

The following areas are in focus for Week 2:
  • Combat testing for levels 1-10
  • Updated hotbar functionality
  • Mail system
  • Class abilities for available classes
  • General feedback

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where NPCs would sometimes move under or above the ground and get stuck in the evading state.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing NPCS to die inside some objects in the Silent Plains
  • Adjusted a perception popup in Thronefast where the text was cut off

Character Creation

  • The Mysterious Letter will no longer appear in the inventory of newly created characters

Class Abilities

General
  • Fixed an issue which would cause some proc-based abilities to trigger only once.
  • Adjusted the sell price of level 1-4 ability scrolls. The purchase price remains unchanged.
Warrior
  • Quell now functions properly, becoming active after you successfully Block.
  • Storm should now properly deal damage when you impact the target.
  • Fixed a typo in the Rupture ability tooltip.
  • Breaker’s Roar now only cancels/mitigates root and snare effects.
Paladin
  • The paladin ability Faithful Strike should now properly heal the paladin.
  • Clarified description on Radiant Lance to reflect that bonus effects only work on undead opponents.
  • Fixed Righteous Flame so that it will proc again after its cooldown has been satisfied.
  • Damage and tooltips between Rank 1 & 2 of Zealous Strike have been adjusted.
Dire Lord
  • Fixed an issue with Corrupt Blood causing the DoT effect to end too quickly.
  • Adjusted the damage and healing values for Life Tap abilities.
  • Adjusted the damage values for Corrupt Blood.
  • Fixed an issue where Blood Debt would not clear on death.
  • Dire Lords are no longer given the Shields skill or Bucklers proficiency at character creation.
Cleric
  • Fixed Resurrection not being castable on player corpses.
  • Increased the damage of Dawnfire and added a 6 second cooldown to the ability.
  • Updated the Conjure: Hammer of Requiem ability to more reliably summon its associated hammer.
  • The Health and Armor Class values should now display properly on the Awaken line tooltips.
Druid
  • Adjusted the healing values for the Talisman line of spells.
  • Upheaval should no longer damage the caster, and enemies should now be knocked down by it (if not already immune).
  • Fixed Hirode’s Flame to now be instantly cast by the Druid, allowing you to move freely while using this ability once again.
Shaman
  • Fixed an issue with Serpentine Strike causing it to spam the combat log and become unusable.
  • Hurry the Past cost changed to 8% of base mana (down from 10% total mana).
  • Adjusted the duration and tick count for Mantle of Mist and Replenish to give them a more unique identity. Both have also been adjusted to not do direct healing when they land.
Wizard
  • Added the Jolt spell at level 1.
Summoner
  • Added the Blast Creation spell at level 1.
  • Zephyr and Fury pets have increased base armor values.

Itemization

  • Changed the +18 STR on the “Bladed Earring” and “Scuffed Pendant” to +5 Crit Rating and +1 Attack Power respectively.
  • Changed the +5% hit on the Ivory Handled Shortbow to the correct +5 Accuracy stat.
  • Changed rarity of Cleric conjured hammers and tomes to general items.
  • Converted several food/drink/consumable/summoned items to General rarity.
  • Dire Lord Vital Cage scroll now has accurate level requirement.
  • Shields have been thoroughly removed from Dire Lord starting gear.
  • Updated Buried Longsword, Sharpend Flint Knife, Splintering Club, Notched Great Axe, Muck-Covered Sledge, Flinted Knuckles and Splitneck Axe to correct DPS for their rarity.

Mail System

  • Fixed Reply button.
  • Fixed an issue where typing ‘r’ would start a reply in your chat box.

NPCs

  • Adjusted ice spells used by wrathful spirits to not cast back to back when pulled.
  • Fixed an issue with the Laced Kunai Bouquet NPC ability.
  • Fixed an issue with the Stinging Fog effect used by some NPCs.
  • Fixed a typo in an NPC display name in Thronefast (an off duty Regular).
  • The merchant Shady Willamena should no longer wade into the nearby lake upon spawning.
  • Availia Watchguards should now assist players who are fleeing from angry spiders or hornets.
  • Watchguards in Availia should now be slightly less likely to run amok terrorizing the creatures in the starting area.
  • The shaman vendor Akola in Thronefast now sells more level-appropriate abilities for new shamans.
  • Remaining Trait vendors in the Barrowdark have been removed.
  • Updated several NPCs to use more appropriate abilities (i.e. should be fewer blackjack-kicking spiders around).

Quests

  • Adjusted the XP reward for repeating the quest “Threads of War”.

User Interface

  • Improved UX for multi-charge abilities. Now only shows the cooldown number when 0 charges are left.
  • Utility and Technique abilities can now be placed on the action bar.
  • Removed the technique and utility hot bars, increased the number of slots available on the action hot bar and added the ability to click and drag the new drag handle at the lower right corner of the ability hot bar to change its dimensions, allowing for different configurations where abilities can be positioned either horizontally or vertically in one or more columns/rows. Also adjusted key bindings to support the new hot bar changes.
  • The auto-attack button can now be moved anywhere on screen in relation to the ability hot bar and can have its window settings (such as opacity and scale) changed independently from the ability hot bar by holding Control and right-clicking on the auto-attack button.
  • Added the “Hide Auto-attack Button” option to the General tab of the game’s Settings window.

World

  • It should no longer be possible to attempt to climb the walls of the Arcanery tower in Thronefast.

FIL had a pretty heroic death honestly. Dude went out protecting his family. I actually like Nirgon, whole thing is just sad.

Nirgon is an obviously mentally ill retarded cocksucker - and has now murdered his childrens grandfather.

Admitting you like him is an incredible indictment of your judgement.

I am so not surprised a gaggle of the most self-assured yet idiotic posters in this community are talking about how ‘cool’ he was with them and how they ‘actually liked him’. Why? Because you liked the same style of video game? Jesus Christ.

Maybe dont be so fucking sure about how effective your judgement is going forward, ya?

Liking someone doesn't mean you approve of them losing their minds. I liked him in the limited context I'd interacted with him, and I'm not such a coward that I'll pretend thats not the case just so dorks on the internet will like me more. Is it really necessary for me to to make a public statement that I disavow him over what he did? What a strange take, relax man

It is not ‘strange’ to think anyone who ‘likes’ or finds common cause with a clearly deranged moron may not have the best judgement.

Also lol at you thinking i want a ‘disavowal’. Keep on truckin’ partner.

Brother, if I was required to dislike everyone with a mental illness I certainly wouldn't be a member of this board.

A few of us played pantheon a year or so ago and it was 'fine'. A serviceable 'old school mmo' but with enough modern stuff that it kind of violated the original 'vision'. Do these changes with the hotbars and stuff further move things into wow land, or are they being nuanced about it?

I liked him before he went all in on proving Cad Cad right about him in the incel thread and sperging out all the time. Him murdering his FIL does kind of put a damper on wanting to have a conversation with him again, but if he somehow got internet access in prison and was playing the same game as me I wouldn't kick him out of the guild as long as he didn't suck at his class or start trying to talk about women and incels and shit.

People are more than an individual action or reaction in their lives. People who do really stupid and horrible shit included. If he does his time and reforms himself assuming he doesn't get the death penalty, then when he gets out he should be provisionally allowed to be part of society again.

Maybe we’ll see him again when EQBrowser finally drops and he can play on a buttphone

Nirgon was cool when I thought he was a normie playing a character on the forum. Now that the mask is off I’m pretty good saying I’m not guilding with him ever. If anyone else on the board plans to commit murder maybe y'all let us know we can let LLR and Cad prune you too

We don't really know yet, you can move the hot bars around now and put the various types of abilities where you'd like. It's more just a QoL thing for setting up your UI. And in that regard, I tend to think more choices are better. But is the game drifting more towards WoW than EQ1? Probably, but it's mostly squarely in the middle, mostly in that Vanguard territory. With this recent patch, TTK went way up and elite mobs went away, so that's more towards EQ1 than WoW. Soloing feels a lot like EQ1 where some classes are good at it, others are not. At this moment, leveling is way too fast and feels closer to WoW, especially if you are one of the classes that can solo well.

But as far as nuance and what their final goal looks like...I don't think we know yet. I expect a lot is going to get revealed as they keep rolling out these updates to the test server and eventually this next big live content push. Some of the overhauls to the classes (like to the Dire Lord) and some of the things they've added (rested xp, rarity colors for loot, etc..) caught most of the playerbase off guard. They definitely appear to be moving away from old school MnM style EQ1, but they seem to want to avoid the casual embrace of classic WoW. So, who knows what that adds up to. It feels like Vanguard to me in a lot of ways, which I don't think is a bad thing.
