Magus in pen and paper is about lots of prep for an attack that if hits does a ton of dmg, one of the few caster classes that has decent base attack bonus and can keen(increases crit range) her own weapon so you cast keen/shocking grasp round 1 with weapon you specialize in so you get like 15-20 crit range then hope you roll well because if you miss you wasted two turns.

Yeah I don't like that. Guess I'll go pick up Octavia instead. Amiri is my wrecking ball and my main Armored Hulk Barbarian is getting quite hard to damage.

Makes me think that the Kensai/Sword Saint Pathfinder version is probably terrible compared to the peak it hits in Baldur's Gate II. This game doesn't even have Skinchanger Druid for some strange reason either. That shit is my jam.

Honestly Alchemist can become a beast as either a Dragon(yes a dragon) or elemental body III if you feat natural armor/attack feats+mutagens. If you like the shape changing stuff.

I only liked Skinchanger because it did the reverse of what this Summoner did. Have a highly efficient melee werewolf that could also use all of the high level Priest spells.

Not perfect but it was extremely effective. Wizard/Sword Saint won't have the impact in this game I don't think though. This game does not seem to differentiate between dual and multiclassing... unless I am mistaken.

Woe to the days of casting time stop, cloud kill then raping everyone with your ridiculous sword attacks.

As cool as this game is I uninstalled for the time being, just too many issues with my favorite part of RPGS(character building) going back to Divinity 2 until it is hashed out.

Did you mod your game with your skinchanger? That it one of the lesser popular builds in BG2, since you can only do greater werewolf 1/day, and the normal werewolf can only harm as wielding +1 weapons.

Funnily enough the highest dps build is a halfling slinger. 5 or more attacks per round, adds strength to attacks, and many monsters are immune to piercing, but not bludgeoning. You can laugh your way through the game with the shield of balduran and cloak of reflection on that little shit.

I have this on deck with POE2, DOS2, and Bard's Tale 4.

Edit: actually starting this now just to support it on Steam player stats. Those other games already super successful companies. Want to make sure these guys stay in business for more Pathfinder games. 👍

I haven't run into any bugs so far, but the number of spelling punctuation typos and grammar errors is irritating. Didn't anyone proof-read this shit?

I believe I made use of the bug in the old version I use that allowed you to keep the modifier of the weapon you were holding before you shifted. Halfling slinger sounds hilariously retarded though.

I like the game but holy crap is it buggy. This is exceptionally maddening because of how complex the damn thing is.

I just couldn't force myself to slog through Bard's Tale IV last night so I bought this despite saying I'd wait. I'm weak, I admit it. I just love the Pathfinder system. I fully intend that I won't really play "for real" until at least this next patch hits, but holy shit do I already love the character creation. Of course, even though I've read this thread and know what I *should* be making for my character, I made a 2h fighter anyway, and my choices in the intro gave me the 2h barbarian and Valerie, I forget what she is, but armored fighter type. I'm assuming Linzi always follows you. That doesn't bode well for my future healing!

I'm sure I'll redo the intro a few times just to mess with character builds, but will I ever get to potentially add the characters that pick the purple midget's team? Or are they just gone? I'm kind of intrigued to find out more about the undead inquisitor chick.

How "story driven" are the existing companions? I've already stated that I would love to make all my own characters, and hopefully the new patch will facilitate that, but I'm assuming that I'll miss out on various quests if I don't.

The people who get assigned to the teams seem to have more to do with your alignment than anything particularly class-balance related. If you are evil you get the evil NPCs and if you are good you get the good ones. I was in a similar state and only had Linzi and my limited Alchemist skills for heals for the first couple levels. That was rough going.

Tristian is, however, a healing monster.

I didn't get Linzi, but I was semi-evil in the intro. I got the undead, barb and dwarf priest. Later I recruited Valerie (diplomacy check) and the priest Tristan. I don't really know what I'm doing in terms of character creation and leveling (don't know much about pathfinder), so I just keep it simple (no multiclassing yet). That team is pretty strong at Normal difficulty even with me as a useless eldritch archer. I haven't had very difficults encounter yet.

Don't yet see the point of wizard-type caster though. My eldritch archer is the worse char of my team. I tried using color spray and daze for Crowd Control but it's not very effective. So I'm basically an archer with a small bonus dmg from ray of frost + spellstrike but a -4 penalty to attack rolls most of the time.

R Razzes scare is really strong also. Color Spray is just one of the better ones because it is very low level. Scare/Hold person/etc are all superior.

Once they fixed custom characters I ditched all the premade ones and made my own party, but when a companion quest pops I'll add them to do it and then go back to full custom. If I'm missing out on extra story stuff due to premade companions I don't notice it. I do play as an evil murder hobo though and that definitely makes you miss out on certain things just due to alignment.

I'm starting a second playthrough to do a whole custom party, and I'm looking for some suggestions for what to include. All going Neutral Evil to see how it impacts the game.

Main Character > Knife Master Rogue
Echanter Wizard
Two Handed Fighter?
Sorc focused on Summoning Monsters?
Some kind of tank?
Heals? (probably just straight cleric?) Is the Ecclesitheurge better at healing? I have no experience with the clas

the ecclesithurge is basically a wizard cleric. so they get more spells and have to select a domain and opposition, just like a wizard. the primary thing you want on a cleric is selective summoning and you need 13 cha for that. that's what allows you to channel positive (group heal) only friendly's and channel negative (aoe against undead) only enemies. healing domain also is pretty mandatory. honestly, tristian is pretty boss, and that's exactly what he's got. so unless you don't want to pick him for flavor reasons, just save yourself some coin and take him.

the party setup i'm going with is

me (TWF fighter)
amiri (barb)
valerie(tower shield master)
Custom - elf rogue for longbow specialty, then give her a composite longbow to just plunk out sneak attacks. also trickery skill specialist
tristian (ecclesithurge)
custom - evocation wizard

i have another group that i started with and i'm not sure how i feel about it but it's basically the same setup. instead of a rogue, i have my pc as a bow ranger (with a bear), linzi the bard instead of tristian, a summoning focused sage sorcerer, and a glaive wielding inquisitor.

with this setup, there's little to no combat healing, but between the inquisitor and linzi, i can get healed up after battle nicely. the summoner also just spams summons (he has some of the improved summoning feats, so he summons extra creatures for longer). i like this party, it does pretty good damage, but this bear is killing me. the bear doesn't have it's own party sheet or anything so out of combat i can't check ANY thing from it. i have NO idea how many hp it has, how damaged it is, anything. the enemies seem to always target it first, which, i guess is fine? because you can't kill it. not permanently anyways. if it "dies" it'll just lay there. when you rest it'll come back with no penalty. but it's frustrating after combat, i'd like to heal it, i mean i have plenty of healing spells... but there's no way to check it's health. i'll throw a couple healing spells but i don't know how much is wasted or anything. i don't like it.

The fixed the companion stat thing, sort of. If you select the animal companion and hit c it should bring up it's character sheet. It was in the patch notes today

What feats do you take on Druid if I'm planning on focusing on the Animal Companion and Wild Shape?
