How does making one good purchase decision and one shitty purchase decision maker you a winner? Winners didn't make a mistake.
What if you got an Xbone for free from microsoft, yet purchased a PS4? I think that's the ultimate win. It's like you get a game console to enjoy, with a TV thing to sedate the wife while you enjoy it.

I don't care about sports games and I don't care about baseball, but I must admit that there is something fascinating about The Show's attention to details and its willingness to go beyond the sheer mechanisms of the sport and recreate the baseball experience. Or more exactly the baseball experienceS: the one of the TV broadcast (like most sport games it mimics the TV visual codes), the one of the manager (setting the price of hot dogs) and the one of the coach (the entity that has the whole team in mind and a global plan). Isn't there also a career mode where you play just the one guy? Anyway, it's a game where the refs gather to discuss calls, which, from the point of view of a video game, is pure fetishism since it serves no other purpose other than providing a reality effect. It's akin to a tennis game where you could chose the balls before serving... pretty crazy.

Even if the franchise is not exactly selling huge numbers, I suspect it can still have an impact on PS4 sales because of its faithful fans and I can see people buying the game just as a tech demo, like I am tempted to do.

The Show is definitely going to be a system seller because there is no MLB game on the Xbone at least for this year.

Baseball occupies such a strange position in modern sports and the presentation and consumption of the game. There is a huge attachment to history and looking backward, with rules, understood rules, gentlemen agreements, whatever... feel like I could rant for hours IRL about how I've lost my love for Baseball.

You could make a game that reproduced the ballparks in painstaking detail, filled it with a searchable database of every statistic that you could possibly dream of, and just create a "playback" mode to watch historic moments. 70 year old men would be buying it for their grand kids along with a bottle of viagra just to sit around and jerk off to a Babe Ruth homerun, the chance to fix Buckner's blunder, or throw a fastball at Jackie Robinson's head.

MLB The Show accurately captures just how fucking terrible that thing in Marlin's stadium looks.

All MS has to do to win me over is add DLNA support. I swear this "no video/music support so you buy our overpriced service shit" is so annoying. Especially when it is a piece of software code that has been in use for more then a decade. Add DLNA support and open up your voice features to work with third party API and watch that shit explode in popularity. Hell make a deal with google to use google voice and google now if you really have the balls.

Gates will see this system buried before allowing any of this to happen.

looks like DriveClub is going to come out June 13th (still free on PS+ I assume, with a retail version that has more stuff) and Last of Us Remastered is coming out on June 20th

yeah the lack of DLNA for PS4 is pretty inexplicable especially considering all the games currently are pretty ass.

Hey, so, does anyone hear a noise when your ps4 is completely shut off? Not on stand by, but completely turned off. The noise even persists for a minute or so after I pull the plug. It's this constant high whine noise that you can only hear when the room is absolutely quiet. It's not that it's annoying, but I'm wondering if it is at all detrimental. I've heard it described as 'coil whine', but I'm not familiar with that.

Depends on if the constant high pitch whining noise you hear is telling you to kill your parents? If so, I have the same issue on my PS4.

edit: not really though, mine makes no noises when shut off.

To the people who went and checked, I'm only able to hear the weird oscillating sound when I put my ear right next to it, and REALLY listen.

My guess would be dust in the fan assembly - not had that happen on my PS4, but that's how I'd describe my PC's large 50mm or whatever case fans the rare times I powered my machine down before I cleaned the fan around the ball bearing area.

Well surely, whatever moving parts the fan has shouldn't be "moving" if the system is entirely turned off, nor should the sound persist for about a minute after I pull the plug entirely?

If I think about this logically, the system does keep some amount of charge while it's off, right? So maybe the thing that stores that charge is faulty somehow?

Anyway, I called support today, and all they had to say is that "it shouldn't be making any noise if the system is off", and that I should probably send in the system. So guess I'm going to do that. Kinda lame, but ah well. The only thing I'm afraid of is if it's somehow the wiring in my house that caused it, seeing as I do actually have a charger for my phone that makes the same noise, as does the charger of my laptop (if I put my ear right up to it. Although, that is more of a buzzing sound). Wish I was a little bit more tech savy about these types of things
