47 Ronin, remake of the one from 1941, but with magic and shit. Honor, suicide, glory and witchcraft. Mostly watched it to gear up for GoS. Not a bad watch, Neo does a fine job, not too weird. Solid 7/11.

I just watched this. Standard popcorn flick with no depth. It would have been much more solid with an experienced director and actual writers.

I give it....25/47 Ronin.

47 Ronin should have either been half an hour longer or half an hour shorter. 25/47 seems about right.

I just rewatched city slickers out of boredom and noticed Jake Gyllenhaal was Billy Crystal's son. Mind was blown. Also, City Slickers isnt as funny as I remember

I would not have noticed if you didn't mention it. I was watching Just Cause with Sean Connery a few years ago and spotted this little kid.

Watched Do the Right Thing for the first time. It's from back when Spike Lee made great movies, and I very much enjoyed it. It's insanely relevant to today's retardation.

Rosie Perez is a wicked butterface. That body.

Training Day. DW got an oscar for this, well earned. Ending was a tad over the top, but it’s easely forgiven, the previous 1h40m has nonstop great acting. Snoop Dog, Dr. Dre, Terry Crews and a whole bunch of others. Ethan Hawke does a fine job too. +1 for Eva Mendes tits. Solid 9/11. Makes me want to watch american gangster next.

Just watched The Tax Collector which is the third movie in the Training Day universe. I actually didn't know this so now I gotta watch the 2nd one. Pretty predictable movie, interesting concept, but editing and writing was meh. Disappointed they couldn't do better.

July 22nd

I was blown away.

Two things about this :

- There is a norwegian film of the same year on the same event (centered only on the attack though) called Utoya - 22 July. I have seen neither, but I think the norvegian film is a bit more of an art film ? Anyway it can be an interesting companion piece.

- Anders Danielsen Lie who plays the killer in Greengrass' movie is an amazing actor that can also be seen in two very good movies by Joachim Trier : Reprise and Oslo 31 aug.

What’s the 2nd one? Assuming you don’t mean AG.

Ok this recommendation is only for the hard core horror/gore fans:

Found (2012)

Its very low budget and unfortunately many of the actors seem low budget too. BUT if you stick with it, I PROMISE you, you won't be ready or prepared to handle the last 30 mins. You've been warned.

Its streaming free on Tubi.

one of the podcasts i listen to (movie crush) had a guest on who made a list of 100 lesser known movies worth watching, been looking for some new stuff since i mostly only watch blockbuster action/scifi movies and so far I've liked the 2 or 3 movies I've seen on his list, all of them look pretty interesting. Each movie also has a link to where you can stream it which is really nice

Checked the list posted by spronk spronk . I saw 27 of those but there were also many films I never heard about. Of the 27 films I saw the only one I would not have recommended is Stardust, which did not do it for me (but I seem to remember we had some fans of this film on the boards back then - probably because of Neil Gaiman) and if I had to pick just one it would be Children of Men. It was my pick for film of the year in 2006. No small feat considering it was a very stacked year with films such as as The New World, The Prestige, Offside, The Departed, Casino Royale, Shortbus, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Pride & Prejudice, etc (note that some might have been released in 2005 or 2007 in the US).

Filth. Imogen Poots, James McAvoy. HBO. ‘Fuck me with your horsecock‘ Hahaha, I love this movie so much, tits and ass, drugs and debauchery. Underrated movie, McAvoy does a fantastic job as the corrupt, sex obsessed, druggy scottish policeman. It has heart for sure. 10/10. Watch it before your other FoH bros.

Thanks for the link i am going to check it out. Now I have seen a number of things on here and I will say if you consider yourself at all a fan of westerns and you have not seen Appaloosa you need to remedy this post haste.

This was really good. Guy documented all this shit himself. I found myself checking google earth to see about where he was while I watched it. He was completely in the middle of nowhere. A solid 6/7, minus one cause no nudes.
